Basically I wanted to portray a Roger standing more upright than they usually would. And then I realized leaning on the tail would necessarily be involved. Still didn't make her stand perfectly upright! Anyway point is, don't mind the flimsy excuse to have her reach up.
This was just a sketch in preparation for my usual "ink then color" style drawing, but then I put waaay too much time into it for it to just be a sketch. Well, maybe I will give it the ink-then-color treatment later; I could certainly be a lot more dramatic with the shadows, and maybe mess with the proportions some.
As always, Rogers belong to
not-fun and appear in http://inhuman-comic.com.

Yes, so do I! I still enjoy the sketches of some of my other drawings more than the finished versions. But when I sketch, darkness represents thick lines (ie, surfaces slowly curved away from the eye) or just uncertainty as to where to put the line, rather than representing actual shadow. So this ended up being a hybrid between the two meanings for darkness. If I redo it I can more seriously depict the lighting.
i think it'll look swank.
what i've been working with lately in the comic is that i try to make light fall in a globe shape. i dunno if that's fully accurate, but it's how i've been thinking of it in 3 dimensions to help me out. i dunno if it'd be of any assitance for your background lighting to think of it that way or what though.
