“So where are we Petie?”
“Don’t rush me! I’m trying to find some islands or something so I can figure that out!”
“You know getting lost is starting to become a habit with us…”
“Shut up Jules.”
“Fine… any luck?”
“……”
“What?”
“We aren’t supposed to be near the Red Line are we?”
“Well YOU’RE the one navigating us, you tell me.”
“… yeah, we’re really lost…”
“Dang… well I guess it could be worse.”
“Jules, PLEASE don’t say that…”
“I mean there could be a storm… ow!”
“I told you not to say that!”
“What, like it’s just gonna start storming cause I said that a storm could make it wo”
Lightning flashed in the sky and rain started to come down… HARD. Petie closed his telescope up and glared at his first mate as Jules just stood there dumbfounded for a moment before cupping his hands to his mouth and shouting upwards “Was it something I said!?” earning him another smack from Petie as thunder boomed.

“Peddle faster!”
“I’m trying!”
“We’re going to tip over! Peddle faster!”
“I’m TRYING!!”
Below the deck of the Sea Cradle Petie and Jules were sitting in the baby walker like seats of their ships “Engine” and peddling their legs off to keep the paddle wheels spinning fast enough to keep the ship afloat as the waves of the storm battered it. Meanwhile up on deck Anne desperately tried to steer the ship. This looked like a disaster in the making since Anne was a fruit user so one big wave and she was off to certain death and her plushies, animated by devil fruit powers and therefore weakened by seawater, couldn’t help her.
Unfortunately Jules was the designated “Peddler” since he could peddle faster and stronger than both of them together (Petie was just helping cause of desperate times) meaning no matter how it went a fruit user would have been on deck alone. Anne adjusted the floatie she had around her middle, just in case, and squinted her eyes to try and see any light in the storm. She tried to steer the tiny ship through the crashing waves. It looked like they might be the only thing at sea for miles but naturally who or what would actually be stupid enough to be out at sea in a storm like this…?
THUD
Suddenly something smacked into the side of the ship along with the latest wave making Anne squeal in panic, jerking the wheel to try and avoid a larger wave. Trying to get the ship steady again she couldn’t risk looking over the side to see what had hit them but it hadn’t sounded like it was something hard enough to damage the ship. Maybe a big fish or something had gotten caught in a wave and smacked into their boat. Anne felt a little guilt but tried to focus on the crises at hand since there was nothing she could do… then she heard a soft groan from over the side.
“I meant to do that…”
That got Anne’s attention as she immediately let go the wheel and scurried down to deck to peek over the side. To her shock and amazement a figure was clinging there… well okay it was stuck there like a post-it note but it still surprised her. Unfortunately it was too dark for her to make out who or what it was but she couldn’t leave them there. Despite her plushies, from where they stood in the cabin door, urging her to stay away from the edge Anne fished out one of the grappling hooks they used to board ships and lowered it down to the mysterious person “G-grab h-hold! I’ll p-pull you up!” she shouted, not sure if she’d actually be able to but willing to try…
Then the first tug on the rope nearly yanked her over the side. She squeaked and braced herself against the railing as her plushies rushed out to keep her from going over, seawater that could kill them be damned! They all strained as she could feel whoever it was climbing up. Finally he hauled himself over the side, sending Anne tumbling as the rope suddenly went slack. She found herself staring at a pair of sandal clad feet. Looking up she tried to make out who or what it was but in the dark all she could make out was he was chubby, only a little shorter than her, had hair a bright enough pink to stand out in the storm, and it looked like his skin shined a little.
“You okay? … and why are you dressed like that? It the fashion up here?” his voice was thick with a slight warble but still had a childish tone that told her he was about her age. She was breathing too hard to answer, just making a soft squeaking noise… just as a huge wave washed over the ship. She squealed and grabbed the plushies to keep them from washing away just before the seawater left her paralyzed and about to be swept overboard… just as the stranger grabbed her “WHOAH!!” he pulled her close, making her realize his skin was smooth and unlike the skin of any other mon she’d met.
“Easy there! I’m guessing you can’t swim right?” he said poking her inner tube “Then why the heck are you on deck in the storm… and who’s steering this thing!?” he cried, dropping her to hustle to the helm where the wheel had been left spinning freely. Coughing up a little water Anne noticed what looked like… butterfly wings on the strangers back? That didn’t make any sense to her but she was snapped out of it by him shouting “What in the name of Otohime are you doing!? Get off deck before you go over again!”
“B-but…”
“There’s a small chain of islands nearby! I’m going to steer us there!”
“But…”
“Get off the deck already!”
Anne whimpered and scurried into the cabin, deciding to wait till later to ask the strangers name. For now she had to let Petie and Jules know what had just happened… even if she wasn’t really sure herself. That and all the seawater had made her diaper soggy enough to need a change BADLY. That was the first thing on the agenda.
******************
“So you’re saying that there was somebody SWIMMING out in that storm…”
“Y-yes…”
“And that he smacked into our ship…”
“H-he did!”
“And after you pulled him up he saved you from going over the side and is currently steering the ship towards an island he says is there.”
“… y-you don’t believe me?”
“Nope, I believe every word. Though to be honest that worries me a lot more than the storm…”
“Petie! Stop talking and peddle!”
“Right, sorry Jules! We’ll figure it out when we reach safety, okay Anne?”
“O-okay…”
******************
Finally there was a shout from above to “Stop the paddle wheels” and they could hear the anchor dropping and planting itself in something solid. Petie and Jules finally stopped and just sat there for a moment, their legs aching, before Anne helped them back up out of the set in seats. “So… should we go up and meet him?” Jules asked after a minute of standing there. Petie and Anne exchanged unsure glances before there was a knock on the cabin door “Hello? Miss surface dweller? Anybody? You down there?” a voice came before they heard the door open and somebody step inside “What the…?”
“Well… he’s found the nursery…” Jules piped up again, before they could stop him he shouted “We’re down here!” loud enough there was no doubt the stranger heard him. Nervously the three waddled into the kitchen area as they could hear the person finding the stairs down to it. They all braced themselves for who or whatever he was as he descended the stairs and came into view “Man you guys have a weeeeeeeeeird sense of décor around here… and fashion. Are all surface dwellers like this?” he asked as they stared blankly at him. He was a finneon morph… which meant only one thing as Petie was the first to ask the obvious question.
“A-are you a… fishmon?”
“Yep! Bet you’ve never seen one before, right?”
Sure enough he was a fishmon. Webbed hands, gills along his neck, and of course being a fish. He stood a bit taller than Petie while still being shorter than Anne… but he was wider than any of them with a broad, chubby build and a large stomach. He was dressed in a pair of off blue shorts, a red sash belt, and sandles meaning his plump stomach and arms were shown off. His hair was an almost neon pink color going with his pink eyes and markings and he had a large pair of butterfly wings as a tail which looked odd stuck out from behind him. His skin was smooth enough to shine in the light and he was still dripping water.
They stared at him for a moment before he spoke up “… so… you gonna tell me why this place looks like a giant nursery? Or why your dressed like babies?" he asked, making them all blush and look away. Before anyone could answer there was a puff of white powder over him making him shout in surprise as Petie remember the fact that his powers still weren’t under his control and more or less permeated the ship completely. As the smoke cleared the finneon stood there in a state of shock, his shorts replaced by a thick cloth diaper and rubber pants. He kept his sash belt though and his sandles seemed about the same if just a bit softer and more childish. Petie couldn’y resist as a teasing grin spread across his face and he asked.
“I don’t know, why are you dressed like a baby?”
“WHAT THE HELL!? WHAT DID YOU DO!!?”
“You ever hear of a Devil Fruit?”
“Devil… what?”
“Thought so… sit down, this’ll take a while to explain.”
The fishmon just stared at them as if they’d gone mad for being so casual about this, swaying a little on his feet since he wasn’t use to the thickness of the diaper. Just then Nanny walked in, right past him, and up to the trio “Dears? We’ll need to restock soon. It might be best to head for a town as soon as the storm subsides.” As the trio nodded in agreement and Anne lifted Nanny up to cuddle her the fishmon’s jaw dropped and he gaped like… well… a fish out of water. Then he started screaming “C-CURSED!! THIS BOAT IS CURSED!! AAAAAAAHHH!!!” and started panicking while waddling back and forth, flailing his arms wildly. They watched him for a moment before Jules, in an attempt to be helpful, spoke up.
“You hungry? We were going to have dinner soon and…”
“… you’re offering me a meal?”
“… yeah?”
“Thank you! Even if you are cursed I can’t thank you enough for such kindness!”
They stared at him for a moment, not sure how to take the eager and earnest smile on his face at the promise of food or the fact it was enough to bring him back from a panic attack. “O-okay… I’ll s-start cooking then…” Anne said, more nervous than usual due to the odd situation as she went over to the actual kitchen area “I’ll help!” Jules piped up following after her leaving Petie to try and explain everything. “Thanks guys…” he mumbled before motioning to the highchairs placed around a small meeting table “Why don’t you sit down… um… what was your name again?” the fishmon looked at the chairs with some trepidation before answering “Chouji, my names Chouji.”
“Nice to meet you Chouji, my names Petie and I’m the captain of this ship.”
“… really?”
“…… please don’t sound so surprised…”
“Sorry.”
******************
“… so… you eat these weird fruits and you get some kinda strange power…”
“Yep.”
“But you lose the ability to swim and sink in seawater.”
“Right.”
“… you sure that’s not a curse? It sounds like a pretty bad deal to me.”
“Not surprising since you have the whole “fish” thing going on…”
“Oh yeah…”
The two sat in their highchairs as they talked, Chouji having calmed down as Petie finished explaining what the Devil Fruits were. He wasn’t surprised they didn’t know what they were on Fishmon Island since he could imagine what fishmon would be actually crazy enough to eat something that meant they could never swim again. Luckily by now dinner was fixed as Anne & Jules sat the plates of food out and climbed into their own highchairs.
The big grin on Chouji’s chubby face at the sight of the foot was almost comical, but he was polite enough to wait for the others to start eating before he dug in… but man did he dig in. The others stopped to stare as he devoured it as if it was the first meal he’d had in weeks. Only stopping to wipe his mouth and ask for seconds. He was a little unhappy that they only had baby bottles to drink out of but by that point it didn’t matter too much as he used it to wash it down all the same. By the time they’d each finished their own plates he’d managed to insure there’d be absolutely no leftovers.
“Thank you kindly for the meal!” he said after wiping his mouth once more as he sat in his highchair, quite content. The trio just exchanged glances with each other before getting up to do the dishes. It usually went fast if it was a communal effort so they all pitched in while Chouji watched them. “Um… want me to help?” he offered, struggling a little to get out of the highchair. “Naaaa, we’ve got it!” Jules said, giggling innocently. Petie just rolled his eyes at his best friend managing to be cheerful even while doing boring choirs like this “Say Chouji…” the teddiursa said “How’d you end up here anyway? I thought all fishmon lived on Fishmon Island and I thought THAT was at the bottom of the sea in the Grand Line.”
Chouji chuckled a little and rubbed his head “Thaaaaat’s a long story… I’m not sure you’d wanna hear it…” he said, blushing a little. “A-actually I’m r-rather curious too…” Anne said “A-and t-the storms t-too heavy to d-do anything m-more t-till it lets up so…” she finished as Jules piped in “And we got cookies we can eat while you tell us!” he chirped making Chouji grin “Okay you sold me on it, but lets do it upstairs… this highchairs weren’t made for somebody my size.” He groaned, finally pulling free. The three chuckled as they headed upstairs carrying a large platter of cookies and some bottles, Chouji eagerly following after them.
“So…” Petie said, grabbing a few cookies before Chouji could start helping himself as they all sat on the thickly carpeted nursery floor “How’d you end up here?” the first few words were muffled by the fact Chouji had stuffed his mouth with the baked goods but a few gulps of milk later they could understand him again “Well… I’m from Fishmon Island like you said. My family is poor and from one of the lower levels though so we don’t have much… and before you ask I’m naturally this chubby.” He said giving them a glare as they all did their best to look away and act like they hadn’t been wondering about that.
“Right… anyway do you know anything about Fishmon Island?” he asked as everybody shook their heads “Well the richer you are the closer you get to live to the Eve Tree which gives off light… so my family’s kinda in the dark… but I always wanted to go up to the surface and get to see REAL light… get to see the sun. Get to see the world of the surface…” he said, a half dreaming look on his face before he snapped out of it “Buuut the closest place to Fishmon Island is the Sabondy Archipelago and they kinda capture and sell fishmon as slaves so you’d have to be stupid to go there…” he rubbed his arm a little and looked away “And mom caught me every time I tried…”
“Anyway so I decided that I’d take the other route to getting to see the surface… joining the sun pirates!” He said proudly and gesturing dramatically… stopping to stuff his face with more cookies. After a moment of chewing he started again “You gotta be really strong to join them so I started training at the Fishmon Dojo and studying everything I could about the surface… maps, logs, navigation books, the tourists and pirates that came through on their way to the new world… I was pretty sure I’d be a shoo-in to join the crew when I got old enough!” he said proudly thumping a fist against his chest.
Everybody stared at him for a moment before Jules piped up “So what happened?” Chouji held his pose for a moment before deflating “That was taking too long so I stowed away by clinging to the side of a pirate ship.” He mumbled, looking away and blushing “The idiots managed to piss off a sea king and get their boat wrecked which knocked me out and into a current… somehow it pushed me under the calm belt and next thing I knew I’m stuck here in whichever sea this is…” he finished, taking another bite of cookie. Petie scratched his head a little and spoke up.
“But I thought you said you studied navigation?”
“Yeah, but that doesn’t mean squat if I don’t have my maps and I’ve never been to the surface before!”
“Ah, sorry…”
“It’s okay… got anymore cookies?”
“… I think that’s enough for now.”
“Dang… so anyway what are you people doing out here so near the Red Line? Are you pirates or something?”
“… we’re bounty hunters… sorta… as for while we’re here… that’s a long story…”
“Petie can’t navigate worth his diapers.”
“Shut up Jules!”
“Well I told you my story so tell me yours, that’s only fair.”
“Fine…”
“… more cookies though?”
“… fine… but I want some of them too this time.”
“Deal.”
******************
“So that’s how we ended up here…”
“Wow…”
“Yeah…”
“You really can’t navigate worth your diapers.”
“Shut up.”
Chouji just laughed heartily and grinned “Naaaa, I didn’t mean it like that…” he took another bite of cookie “What I mean is that you need somebody more qualified helping you find your way around…” he stood up and brushed the crumbs off his tummy before pointing a thumb into his chest “Somebody like me!” they stared at him again before Anne spoke up “U-um… t-that’s great but… w-why do you w-want to be our n-navigator? I t-thought you w-were trying to get back h-home…”
Chouji just shook his head “Nope! My goal was to go out and finally get to see the surface world… and if I join you I have an excuse NOT to go back home!” he said as he grinned “See? It works out perfectly! … cept for the whole baby clothes thing. That ones gonna take some getting used to.” He said, still talking as Jules leaned over and whispered to Petie “If he stays were gonna need a LOT more food…” before Petie could respond Chouji stuck his hand out to him “So what do you say? Can I join your crew?” he asked, smiling eagerly. Petie looked at him for a moment before sighing and shaking hands with him.
“Sure, why not? Welcome to the crew Chouji! We’ll have to get you a bed at the next town though…”
“… and could you get a larger chair too? The ones you have are kind of tight…”
“Sure.”
“… and you don’t mind if I eat the rest of these cookies right?”
“Don’t push it.”
*******************
On a small island near where the Sea Cradle had dropped anchor somebody observed the small ship closely through a telescope. “There it is boys… the ship with the fruit users on it.” The small figure said as he closed the telescope up and grinned at the several tall imposing figures surrounding him “Once we take them and sell em at the Slave Auction House we’ll be on easy street.” He chuckled to himself. A gravelly voice spoke up “Boss?” the small figures grin fell as he sighed “What?”
“Why are we doing this again? I thought you were already rich.”
“Yes… but not rich enough.”
“Oh… boss?”
“What now?”
“Why don’t we go and kidnap them now? They’re probably asleep.”
“Cause in this weather you idiots would likely sink the boats I gave you.”
“Oh… boss?”
“What NOW?”
“When will the rain stop?”
The small figure groaned and banged his head against his ships railing as he muttered to himself “Great call Edwin… you asked for “Strong and Stupid” lackeys and boy did you get em…” he turned around and glared at them “Next person who asks me a question gets fired, got it? Anyway we attack at dawn… understood!?”
“Yes boss!”

“Yes boss!”

Well the way he eat they might have to put locks on the food supplies. The ship might need to change some size to have better storage and space. Chouji sounds pleasant for an extra crew member. Whoever this boss person doesn't know who he going to be dealing with :3 (A shiny mew appears ontop of the refrigerator chewing on his almond milk chocolate cookies. While chewing on them he waves at the crew.) =^w^= mew?
