Each and every creature that resided in the abyss bowed down before me out of fear and respect. They fashioned a line in front of the alter, which lead to a table in front of me.

“Yes come here, you shall receive my gifts because you followed my wishes, I will reward you all with your desires.” Said the void.

Kia Ma landed beside me.

“And for you my chosen one I will grant you with powers that exceed any of the guardians, I will bestow you with claws, that are harder than diamonds, I give you eyes as clear as the purest waters, I present you the strength of mountains, you shall have the intensity, of fire, and you shall become as swift as lightning. You are my champion, but I will always be more powerful than you. I you try to rise against me misery shall forever be your fate.

Something was strange about her. She seemed afraid, not the demon she was just moments ago, she was now simply a mindless pawn to the void. I hated myself, I hated my fate, and I hated the void, but there was nothing I could ever do to fix it.

“Oh is that how you feel my host, is that all you see. I can give you everything, your body is my own, I have powers beyond your dreams, and you can control these powers as well. Tell me that is not joyous, tell me that it is not what you have desired.

I looked down at myself, I felt like the world was in my hands. As I grew stronger, feeding from the void’s power, my mind grew weaker. My conscience was beginning to corrupt, slowly but surely my mind was filled with dark thoughts. In a day’s time I would be like everyone else, just a pawn of the void.

“Now for the rest of you, bring me your wants, your needs, and your wishes so that I may grant them for remaining true to my philosophy. The void said.

Every minion of the void approached me, and received the gifts they most wanted. There were bigger more powerful creatures, and a more numerous amount of them: deceased relatives, personal minions, and new creatures for their bidding.

“Now that all of you are satisfied in need you to do something for me, I know that the guardians have come out of hiding to find me, I know of their plans, and I know what they want. You must prepare yourselves for battle, with protection my army will become indestructible, and the guardians will fall to our knees and beg for our mercy, they will join our numbers.”

Days went by of preparation, Kia Ma and I observed the work being done to prepare for war. All creatures who were not acting properly were destroyed on the spot by my hand. Days went by of this process, every able bodied creature was prepared for the battle about to begin.

“Three, two, one. Now rise up and defeat the guardians.” Shouted the void.

Thousands of creatures and dragons flew out of the abyss to counteract the guardian’s assault, Kia Ma and myself, held back to watch sparks fly. In the sky, there were bursts of lightning, cannons of water, vortexes of fire, and blasts of rock. Nothing could compare to the beauty of a dragon’s battle. I felt relaxed with the magnificent sight around me, but then I realized that creatures were dying up there. I was powerless to do anything to help them or myself, so I waited back, anticipating for something to happen.

The battle raged on for hours, corpses lay in the abyss, and few survivors remained. In the distance a loud crack rang through the horizon, and from behind it raised seven figures.

“It is the guardians, do you wish for them dead or alive master” said Kia Ma.

“Bring them to me alive. The dead I have no power over, oh but the living I can control.” The void spoke out.

“As you say, it shall be done” Kia Ma said as she took to the skies.

The guardians roared through the sky, not holding back anything. They charged straight into the abyss. Unfortunately Kia Ma came up behind them and let out an awe-inspiring burst of ires from her breath. Each one hit the ground, and sprang back up, surrounding Kia Ma.

“It has been a long time Kia Ma, you have grown so much from just being my humble servant, but why would you betray us.” Said Tai Fao.

“Oh you guardians think that you truly have power. You waste it all keeping the world balanced. No, what true power is, you can not begin to get the idea. If you are to really have power, you must use it to crush everyone who is weaker than you are. To bad that you can not understand that you fool.” Responded Kia Ma

“No, power is not you strength, it is not how you use it, it is how you share it. Everything is supposed to remain in a delicate balance. Nothing should come before something else, it must be maintained. Without this balance, failure is inevitable.” Said Tai Fao.

“Let me show you what true power is then.” Shouted Kia Ma

She let out a powerful roar, and a dark cloud formed around the group. It was impossible to see into it, and impossible to see inside it. All that I could do was hope for a victory by the guardians, but it was impossible to see what was happening.

After what seemed like and hour or two the cloud began to dissipate. After it cleared Kia Ma was on the ground, with a blue dragon besides her. I could not tell who it was but I figured that it was the guardian of water.

Tai Fao emerged fro the rubble and shouted “Kia Ma has been defeated the void’s powers are not unstoppable, the void will fall. For Hee Jan!

Tai Fao approached me “You cursed demon, you shall no longer have powers over this girl, we will remove you from her body.”

“Never, you see she entered the void herself, I had full control over her, I left my spirit inside of her body, and cannot be removed. Try as you might, but only this girl will suffer, but I will forever remain.”

Tai Fao then entered into my body also to battle the demon inside of me. I could not know what was becoming of me, but I could feel the battle to the death in full momentum. I had control of my body once more, but it would have spasms from the chaos going on inside of it. The five remaining guardians picked me up and took me away before I fainted from the ordeal.

I woke up in some sort of chamber. I was shackled to a table in the center of it. I looked around; the guardians were in a circle around me and appeared to be participating in some sort of sconce. The spasms returned, and I began to violently shake again. The guardians began to concentrate harder and harder, but the more they did it, the worse my spasms got. I could not move a finger eventually because I had no control over my completely shaken body. It got worse and worse, until and two spirals emerged from my chest. Tai Fao and a dragon-shaped cloud solidified from the event.

The guardians unleashed all that they had on the cloud, but it still fought back. Mai Shen charged at the shadow to combat with it. He clawed at the shadow, but nothing happened. He continuously scratched and swiped and bit, but to no avail. The shadow wrapped around Mai Shen choking him in its tail. The guardians did everything they could but the shadow felt no pain at all. The shadow bit down on Mai Shen’s neck and he hit the ground.

The shadow progressed towards the rest of them. With a blast of mass destruction emerging from its mouth, the entire building was destroyed. The shadow ventured into the open wasteland and started to expand. The expansion began sucking everything it could into itself.

“I am the void; behold me in my glory, I have returned to rule all life.”

I knew what I had to do. I got up and flew at the void.

“HAHAHAHA, you think you can stop me, I control everything now, what could you do to stop me.”

I flew straight into the void not knowing at all my surroundings, but the next thing I knew everything was black.

I was now submerged inside the void yet again, along with the five remaining guardians.

“Cai Lien, what are you doing, it is over, there is nothing we can do.” Said Tai Fao.

“No there is always something”

I started blasting thunder in all directions of the void, nothing happened. I fired and fired, and eventually the rest of the guardians got the message, and let out everything they had. The void was rippling, but no damage was being dealt.

“It will not work, only the combined power of all seven guardians will destroy this, but only five of us remain, and you.” Said Tai Fao

I did not let his words phase me, I still continued to blast away on the ever expanding void. Our activities attracted more creatures to our side and they started with there abilities. Still no effect, I was true that the guardians could only do it. I started to give up.

“No don’t give up Cai Lien, I will help you.

I turned around only to see my brother, Shui Fen. He came to my side and all together dragons of Fire, Water, Storm, Sky, Life, Night, and Earth let out their combined forces throughout the void, stopping its progression, and destroying it.

With a bright flash everything was over. I was now standing in a forest clearing, no longer trapped inside a void, I was once again free.

I was standing next to my brother, we both were still dragons of the void, but we had control of ourselves now.

Tai Fao said “Today is a great day, the void has been destroyed once and for all, many died for this, whom we will morn including Mai Shen and Hee Jan. Two guardians have been killed by the void, but we know who shall take their place. Shui Fen dragon of Water, has shown bravery and determination to protect his sister, no matter what the cost. Congratulations, Guardian of Water. His black scales fell away revealing a bright blue color.
That leaves the guardian of storm to be selected. Thoughout this whole ordeal, obstacles have lined the way making it nearly impossible to accomplish the training, but it was overcome. The guardian of Storms shall now be Cai Lien.”

I nearly cried with joy. My life had been nothing but chaos, but now I had meaning. I would now live as the Guardian of Storm, and restore balance to the world. My brother and I have gone through a lot, but now we shall be honored with keeping order.
