Applejack MLP Plush
My second attempt at Applejack, and this one turned out LOADS better than the first! I've made my eye pattern smaller and it works better. I've also started hand-detailing the mouth instead of the machine. It looks better IMHO, because the thread creates a recessed line. And unlike my last AJ plush, this one has a hat! It's only a straw cowboy hat, but I think it suits her.

Ha! You should see my car. I have an orange Honda Fit, which has an Applejack hanging from the rear view mirror and an Applejack sticker on the back window. I'm actually looking to get a custom car magnet cutie mark made for it to use on convention trips!

this is gorgeous! So, I'm new to sewing and I've been wanting to add some details like eyes and such to my fleece hats and other things, how do you get that embroidered look around the edges of the apples? What is that called, and are there tutorials/books and such on how to do this with a sewing machine or is it by hand?
That's called a satin stitch, and its done by machine. No way would I ever try that by hand- it would take WAAAAAAY too long!
What you're wanting to do with your fleece hat details is called applique. That's sewing a piece of fabric on top of your existing fabric using a stitch around the edges. I don't know of any good books to recommend, as I do most of my patterns myself, and my mom taught me how to do this stuff years and years ago.
but I did find a couple good tutorials online: http://sewlikemymom.com/applique-tutorial/ http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/2008/07.....hine-applique/
I recommend practicing with scrap fabric to start with!
