Name: Ronta
Age: 30-40
Sex: Male
Description: Ronta was born and raised in a tiny fishing village deep in the wild swamplands of Lathaer. Like all of his tribe, he has hunted, fished, and fought from the time he first crawled.
Life in the swamp is dangerous for those who don't know her. Otter tribe culture revolves around a strong bond with nature. Otter tribe warriors are so deeply connected with their homeland that their very fur is steeped in spiritual protection. Some feel the heartbeat of stone and some hear the whispers of the moss. Ronta has always been a chosen favorite of the sweetly singing water. It embraces him, and he loves it in return.
The Lathaerian swampland is a disputed area on the border of the kingdom of Vir. Vir itself is not interested in conquering the swamps (and who would be? It's a swamp.) Rather, they have a dispute with the invading nation on the other side.
When the Virren army put out a call for soldiers, Ronta answered. Otter tribe warriors are known for being skilled survivalists and hardy combatants. In his first battle, Ronta's entire unit was wiped out except for himself. Injured and alone, he made his way forward through enemy territory to deliver information to the next unit. The group that found him was headed by none other than the young prince Pairen (a fox in furry form), then a captain.
Ronta traveled with them while he was recovering. Despite being a backwoods country boy, he was skilled enough to win the prince's favor and was adopted into the unit. The two of them forged a tight friendship by fighting next to each other through the years. The prince slowly built the military career necessary to become a valid contender for the throne, with Ronta as his loyal second.
Now that the prince is a general and the war is over, Pairen's time is filled with meetings, forums, and other matters of the state. Ronta entered the tournament to bring honor to his home village, and maybe also with a vague wish to turn his beloved commander's eye away from the political round table and back to him for a moment.
Fighting Style: The sword-breaking pike favors a counterstrike strategy in which Ronta first blocks the opponents attack, then breaks the opponent's stance to create an opening through which to attack.
Weapon: Sword-Breaker Pike
Allows a wide reach and bladed attack. The shaft is used defensively and the spike on the back is for disarming opponents, especially effective against swords and other long blades, which can be snapped with a quick wrench. Power drops by one level if disarmed.
Signature Ability: Son of Waters
The shell token that Ronta wears creates a barrier around him that negates the use of magic and magical items, including technologically advanced devices, magical weapons, and shamanistic attacks. Oddly enough, it does not affect dragonfire.
If there is any water nearby, such as a puddle, Ronta may choose to create a water barrier that automatically guards against physical attacks instead.
Ronta may also use water to attack directly, drowning or crushing his opponent, but he must be submerged in a body of water, and he must drop his weapon in order to do so, and can use neither of the other two abilities at the same time.
Attributes:
• Power: 2
• Speed: 2
• Awareness: 2
• Endurance: 3
