Panfish are sometimes ignored by anglers, but I'd rather leave the water with a stringer full of these than try for the bigger species and return with an empty bucket. This nine-inch "goggle-eye" nailed that Rapala F-7 and became prime table fare. Rock bass can be very scrappy compared to other types of panfish. Often these are the ones caught by first-timers.
