The name does mean "four door". And never mind that Maserati is now owned by and built under the auspices of Volkswagen Group, this is in-fact a standing Maserati model that has been offered before.
I remember when this Maserati sedan first came out. Everyone's first reaction: Look! The new Buick!

For some reason, I have it stuck in the data banks that Maserati was owned/purchased by VW, and that this machine in particular was a product of that ownership.
I remember reading articles some ten years ago to this effect, and that Volkswagen's other luxury marque, Audi, wasn't too pleased with the re-intro of Quattroporte because it rivaled Audi's own A8.
I must've misremembered.

"Quattroporte" is Italian, not German.

Man, i saw a bently continental, a lotus exige, and a dodge viper (the exige and the viper tonight alone!) in the past 24 hours xD
add a week to that, then there's one of these beautiful cars.

The GranTurismo is not needed in the title, this is just the Quattroporte.
