I had a Maverick started for a different project and already given a base coat when I realized that, for the look I was going for, I'd need to do a considerable amount of sculpted detail work. So, after randomly picking up some cheap costume jewelry at a local thrift store, I settled on this. Like the Saint, the piece on the slide is what inspired the overall colour scheme. Actually, this and the Saint make a very nice pair.

The body was entirely painted black. The gold is Rub & Buff, while the other colours are acrylic and enamel hobby paints. Also, you can't see it too clearly in this shot, but I had used a metallic black enamel paint on the grip. When I put a clear coat on the finished pieces, the black ended up reacting with the clear coat spray and resulted in a fascinating crackle effect. On any other piece I'd be pissed this happened, but I love the texture it's added to the pieces that have that paint, particularly the grip. So, happy accident. ^^
