there once was a maiden fair
who lived in castle high
who watched the dragons soar
far across the sky

many a knight so bold
from lands both near and far
she had turned away
for coming to win her heart

What these knights didn't know
was the maiden longed to fly
with the dragons in their home
far across the sky

So she sat in her tower alone
watching the clouds roll by
waiting for the dragons to come
to carry her into the night

as the days stretched on to years
the maiden would often cry
wishing to be with them
far across the sky

What the maiden didn't know
was that in the mountains tall
the dragons wept for her
locked in her castle walls

bound in iron chains so strong
held to the castle high,
a dragon all along
