Well, it wasn't in the cartoon; it was the preamble to a song. Leader of the Pack, IIRC, probably from a 1982 album. There's a back and forth between the characters about getting Alvin to perform the song originally meant for the all-female Shangri-Las, met with "You're not getting me to wear that wig again!", but he comes around. Pretty quickly, too.
