reddyeno5, who is open for charcoal commissions of win, did this other commission for me way back in August. I was particularly inspired by her gallery pieces where she was drawing common background items. Boring normally, but there was a certain ... correctness to them, a certain realism, while still having a style of their own that stems from effort, not just some cheesy filter. I fed her photo references from my house on the first commission (though she ended up constructing her own angle!), and OF the house for this second commission.
Anyhow, she drew a few great concept sketches for that first pic, and it got me thinking I need to have her draw a sequel some day. Evidently I was in a particularly macro growy kangarooy macropody mood that summer, 'cause this was commissioned around the same time as the series I just posted.
Rooth'roo has finished destroying his house, gotten over the "wtf" moment ... which takes a long time for a goofy roo, so now the sun is setting over the sea of suburbia. He's looking at the day and thinking about what he's going to do with this new form, this new size, this new look on life. Oh, I know, he should go and try to find the green thing on a hill and ask it what the heck is going on. ;)
I love the back-lighting here, the sunset glow on the clouds, the fade-to-fuzzy, the nice pile of rubble at Rooth's feet. Landscape. Win. I love this whole series, and RedDyeNo5 has been fantastic to work with!
More to come ...

Indeed, and I think some of the other sketches would have been interesting to see finished as well. Each 'page' had like 2 or 3 options to it that I had to choose from. It was tough. She's very good at getting into my head, it would seem. And maybe I was pretty good at describing the 'common theme', but not everyone 'gets me' like she does. She's a pleasure to work with, thus. :)
