Another attempt at digital painting.
I'm really having fun with these, I may even do commissions.
Name: Conan
Age: 65 Years
Gender: Male
Species: Fluke
Personality: Conan is a nosy little guy, getting into as many things he can despite any danger, yet he always manages to get himself out of sticky situations. He will greet most any stranger he meets, being far more outgoing than the average Fluke.
Species Info:
The Fluke comes from Rymm.
The average male stands at about 30-40 cm when on all fours (just a bit bigger than a Pembroke Welsh Corgi) the females are usually just a few cm shorter, but can be the same height.
These creatures are very light, weighing in at about 9-10kg
Their markings often resemble those of Red Pandas, but the colours can vary greatly.
Each Fluke has its own light growing from its forehead which is used to see in its habitat.
The Fluke is most commonly found in caves that lie on the border of deserts and mountains, they remain in the deepest catacombs of the caves until nightfall, then they venture out to look for food or socialize.
They have leathery pads at the bottom of their pads to help keep a grip on the slippery cave floors or the wed rocks of mountains.
Their long tails make it easy for them to climb trees and helps keep their balance when they stand on their hind legs.
Though they are usually docile animals, Flukes can get aggressive when they are threatened. Each have scales around their neck, along the spine, and at the base of the tail to protect these vital areas, when it is threatened, the scales will bristle up.
If the rising scales do not fend off the attacker, it will wave its antenna around to confuse or distract the hostile creature, giving it a chance to flee. (If the antenna is bitten off, it can grow back in about a week.)
The final form of defense, which is rarely ever used, lies within a poison gland that forms a bulb at the tip of the Fluke's tongue which is gathered from the poisonous berries that it eats.
Diet:
Flukes are mostly insectivores, eating any scrurrying thing they find in the dark caves, or fluttering about in the open at night. They also love eating berries, especially ones that are poisonous to other species, not only are they delicious, but they provide the Fluke with defense.
Predators and other causes of death:
The Fluke's main predator is a Flint (that means you Pub >->) The Flint will usually scour in the trees at night and wait until it spots the light of a fluke, maneuvering much faster than the short limbed animal. Another cause is an infection of its antenna. ts not known why, but sometime the antenna will become infected, but in a healthy Fluke it will just drop off and grow back, but with some it does not. The infection will grow worse, and without the light the fluke can not hunt in caves or at night, eventually it will starve, or be killed while foraging during the day.
Other Info:
The average life-span of a Fluke is about 300 years on Rymm. (which is equal to about 120 years on Earth) But some have been known to live well into their 700s
Mating season is during the summer, giving birth at late winter with a litter of 9-18 pups, only about 4 making it to adulthood.
Wow, that was quite a bit of words, lol
anyway, if you want to make a Fluke, please, ask me first.
