Answer to your question:
I listen to virtually all genres and styles of music. What gets me interested and invested into music is it's ability to inspire imagery, evoke emotion, or just be so well balanced and crafted that I have to appreciate it for the level of quality, care, and thought that was put into it.
The artist I've mostly commonly seen these traits on here are:

... and of course,
But what it really comes down to... I just have to like the way it sounds.

What drew me to composing was the expressive power a film's score has. It's an important thing in a movie to be able to have the exact perfect music for the right scene. As for what I look for while i'm listening, I'm looking for that little something that grabs my attention and demands that I listen through the music. It varies depending on what I'm listening to. It can be emotionally moving or hit me like a ton of bricks. Or it can be unusual, uncommon for its genre, unique and new for my ears.
Wow! Thanks for spotlighting my music!
I actually started learning how to play the saxophone because I needed a distraction from a bout of limerence. Along the way I attended several jazz courses and found out that I really, really enjoyed live improvization and making music with other people, so I dived in and started working on composing books and classes. I look forward to contributing more.
Thanks again, and hope you are have gotten over your illness!

What inspired me?
I'd have to say the original driving forces were Foxamoor, Pepper Coyote, and Luchs. They are all amazing artists.
But then again, the list is a constantly growing thing, and my style is evolving... every day I meet new musicians, befriend a few, and my eyes open even more to the possibility :)
What I can say for certain though, is that if I never joined the Fandom, I would not have taken up making music!
Very good question, might I add...

As for what got me into music, I'm not really sure. I'm an Aspie (Asperger's), and composition seems to be my specialized skill. I especially get into music with a good sense of melody, and if it has unexpected rhythmic changes or weird time signatures that is like a drug for my brain. Go fig. :3
What inspired me to make music? Well, my dad got me into composing through electronic music when he introduced me to FLStudio as a kid... since then, however, I've been drawing inspiration from just about any genre I like. My primary influences are acts that draw heavily from metal, hip-hop, and electronic, such as Korn, Linkin Park, Skrillex, Knife Party, etc. but I'll also mix in various elements of just about anything.
What inspired me to make the music I make... hm...
The answer to that would be music in general. I have always liked listening to all sorts of music and I enjoy devoting time to create my own (even though I don't upload too much).
However, I am also a music listener.
What "pulls me in to music" is when I hear:
something with a lot of potential
a lot of emotion being put into the song instead of just generic samples, loops, etc.
a song that sounds so good, I can't stop listening to it
something that's easy to relax to
things being creatively put into songs instead of just being everywhere without any sort of thought
songs that make me think
I guess you can say I'm more of a listener than a musician but I still like to make something when I can.
