This is the magical crossbreed that resulted long ago when baboons and hyenas that were digging around in human garbage ran afoul of something a wizard had thrown out.

These fellows are right on the verge of evolving actual language, and I'm going to write a story/comic about it one day when I get the ins and outs of that figured out. Soial grooming hypothesis, origins of Nicaraguan Sign Language... probably need to do some further reading
