So, on rainyday's most recent upload (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7944746/), he seems to have forgotten a specific part of anthro biology. I decided to explain why his tail was missing from the picture (besides his floof being hidden behind all the poof), and, well, here we are. I'm sorry, dude, it's too fun to tease you. :B
I have many complaints for this pic, especially that it doesn't look much like Max. And that hand horrifies me. The poof doesn't look good, the floof needs to be a bit bigger, and the clothes are kind of awkward. Oh, and the head is just… yeah. On the other hand, the keyblade isn't half bad, so… one good thing, I suppose. Man, I have a lot to do to get better. In my defense, I've just finished writing a 2500 word short story. I am tired.
And yes, that title is a pun on Tad Williams' Tailchaser's Song, for anyone wondering. I am so witty. Also, I suspect the "song" is Yackety Sax. Bwaaaaa doo doo ba ba da da doo doo…
And Tall Tail sounds like a name for an Unversed or Dream Eater.

Well, we have the body horror of your sense of identity and empathy being turned into a monster, the bits of you left over being horrifically transformed into these uncanny-valleyesque beings who move like puppets, and if you're really lucky you get to look exactly like you used to except fully aware of how much you've lost. We've also seen parts of people's souls removed and turned into other breeds of monsters, body hijackings, cloning, and (technically) transgender surgery, so why not mobile limbs? :B
Nope, and for a second I couldn't remember what tinkertoys were. I had Legos growing up. Um, no, it's a music and sound equipment-themed keyblade: you can see it in the link to rainyday's pic at the top. My original version of this sketch looked better, but Max also looked a bit too thin and tall.
