It actually hasn't been legalized in the grand ol' California Republic yet. It got past the state appellate court, but it's going up against the supreme court in a few months or so. It's looking good though!

In all seriousness, I personally believe that the institution of marriage in the state should be abolished altogether. Marriage is to closely associated with religion and most religious sects aren't too find of gays marrying. States should institute civil unions in which any two consenting adult humans can inform the state of their joining together so that they can be recognized as a pair and receive all of the appropriate tax benefits that married couples receive now. A couple can get married, but it wouldn't be more than a celebration/ ceremony of their joining together. Individual churches can decide whether they want to marry gays or not, but the state cannot turn away any couple that wishes to receive a civil union.

Your piece also brought an idea into my mind, Mr. Boom. If North Carolina and the rest of the states are so good and Christian that they have to restrict the rights of a group, then why are people still starving on their streets? If they did what the Bible told them and fought against homosexuality, then why are they not following the teachings of Jesus Christ, which are the central dogma of every Christian sect? Jesus tells us that if we want to follow in his footsteps we have to give everything we have to the poor. From the looks of the poverty rate in our nation, us good Christians aren't doing our jobs. If America was truly a Christian nation, we would probably be socialist. I've read the Bible (at least most of it) and I learned to care for my brothers and sisters rather than enforce my hate and prejudice on a group that has been hated the most since the dawn of man. Interpretations of this truly magnificent piece of literature can be greatly beneficial or harmful to the harmony of society. Those white knights who fight against the evil gays are simply liars and hypocrites. They aren't true Christians, in my opinion.

And a loving Ottur at his side^^ but in reality most Christians who go to church have not read a single verse of the Bible by themselves. It was either in Sunday School or what the Pastor told them what page to turn to. Prime example of a true Christian is my dad he excepted me for who I was. My dad used to preach and teach Sunday School and is a Baptist he has read the Bible several times. The other people who say oh your going to hell I respond with Let he without sin cast the first stone. A lot of Christians don't understand John 3:16 because they don't understand Jesus's love. Also he you want to talk about something that is metioned in the Bible several times by both Jesus and God is Divorce. Yet I bet you a church will take in a widow 100x over before they take in a "gay" and turn him or her straight. I believe in Christ He is my Lord and Savior and I know I would not be where I am today without Him and my parents. However I dont believe in organizes religion I have given up on it. I truely believe that if the second coming happened most "Christians" would go against Jesus and history would most likely repeat itself.

Your dad is truly and admirable man! It really bugs me to see fellow Christians so worried about whether gays are marrying or not that they forget what Jesus really wants us to do. They forget, or just choose not to, look at their brothers in need and make sacrifices for them. I'm glad you kept your faith! It seems as if a lot of gays, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered people turn away from their religion.

I know I love him deeply :) my mom too even if she doesn't understand:( but honestly I don't blame them for leaving their faith. I mean look what the churchs preach nowadays it's nothing but hate and pain. If the chruchs want to know why less and less people are going to chruch then they only need to look at themselves. There was a bill recently that was called "Kill the Gays." Where is the love and the goodness In men and women? Only the unloved hate the unloved and the intolerant! It honestly makes me cry everytime I watch it because thats what Jesus wanted that's what the world should be. Why do we hate one another when we are all human? Religion has created wars and fueled them. I will not stand by any organization that teaches hate and intolerance. I love that line, "in the 16th chapter of Saint Luke it is written that Kingdom of Heaven is in not just one man but in all men; You thr people! Seriously? "Kill the Gays"? Whatever happened to the land of the free. It really seems as if people are scapegoating the homosexual community for problems that don't even have to do with them. "The family is falling apart." Let's not look at the highest divorce rate out country has ever experienced. Let's not aw knowledge the serious problems in heterosexual marriages and blame the gays. "It ruins the institution of marriage." Yeah, and Kim Kardashian's ten million dollar wedding that would lead to a marriage of a few weeks doesn't? Honestly though, for a a religion that preaches brotherly love and compassion there is an awful lot of hatred.

Boom I know that where you are that its tough and you aren't treated the way you should be. You should be loved not hated and ridiculed against. The thing with it goes against CHRIST, when he was crucified, he didn't say "Damn the gay people" or "they should rot in hell" he said "forgive them father for they know not what they do." asking God to forgive us for our sins, if homosexuality is a sin, it's like theivery, lying or pre-marital sex. He never once excluded any of his children, God loves all of his children and that DOESN'T exclude the gay ones.
Next reason they opposed it was they didn't want to have to explain to their kids one day why little Johnny has 2 dads or 2 moms. Really? You're saying that you are willing to deny a happy couple one of their inalienable rights because you're lazy? There is NO reason why same-sex couples cannot be married besides the liberals we have in office are afraid of change. I only hope that when our generation takes over, we break this cycle of hate. Maybe then we can make PROGRESS.
