Beyond Belief
Warning: This story contains soft dragon vore.
Darkness. Allowing us to drift into that merciful state of blissful sleep. A place of no light. A place of no pain. A place of no uncertainty. So many would never want to leave such a place, preferring to feel nothing and drift within the landscapes of their dreams. But we wake up every time, sometimes with no memory of what had brought such peace to our tired minds while our body shut down. It is good that we wake though for the light is an equally fulfilling place, always leading us back through the dark to our true selves. This is what you think as you allow your bodiless thoughts to drift aimlessly within the abyss of the sub-conscious. You feel a sort of light tap on your head. It is time it seems… You sigh, not wanting to leave such calmness behind. However, you know that you will always return to this place every night. You open your eyes and awaken.
All is still dark as you escape the abyss. Another day of working till 6:00 PM, making yourself dinner and then falling asleep awaited you. You shift your body slowly connecting your body and mind once again. Wait… something is wrong. You shift again. Very wrong. As you begin to become aware of your surroundings you notice that you are not sleeping on the warm, comfortable mattress of your bed, but on cold, solid rock. You open your eyes and see a large cave entrance with sunshine pouring in, clearly illuminating a large portion of the cave that you're in. You grunt as you begin to lift yourself from your rocky nest and you realize that you're not standing up on two legs, but four! What the hell is going on? You lift your right hand to see what had happened to you. What you see makes you jump and you take a step backwards and trip. Instead of a pink, skinny hand you find yourself staring at a claw covered in white scales. For a few moments all you can do is stare at the scaly appendage with awe and confusion. What had you become?
Finally you collect your nerves and begin to examine your hand more carefully. Four fingers each with a curved black nail. You clench it into a fist and turn it over to its side making sure to take in every detail. You place your claw back on the cold, hard ground and lift your left claw. Identical. You lower your left claw and lift your right one to your face and begin to examine the unseen features of your body. You touch your muzzle noticing it too is covered in scales and as your claw scrapes the top of your head you notice a couple horns sticking out backwards. Two of these are significantly larger then the others. You move your claw to your lips feeling through them with one of your fingers to your fangs and pull your finger back out; a small smudge of saliva on it. You open your maw and place your finger back inside; feeling your tongue and your gums thoroughly. Your tongue feels a little strange. Retracting your claw, you flick your tongue out to try and see what it looks like. It stretches out farther than you expected and you pleasantly notice that your tongue is forked like that of a snake. You playfully begin to spin, twist and flex it in any way you can think of; realizing that it has few restrictions to the ways it can move.
You do this for a few minutes before continuing your self inspection. You twist your head around to see the other half of your body. A row of bony spines protrude out of your back in a narrow row which ends at the tip of your serpentine tail. Your wings are neatly rested against your body as you begin to notice the odd sensation of having your tail as it begins to wag back forth. Suddenly you understand. Somehow you had been turned into a dragon! For a moment the shock is too much and you begin to feel faint. However, your resolve holds out and you manage to keep yourself conscious. All you can do is stare at your new body in awe. Something is rising in your chest. What is it? It continues to rise and you find yourself smiling. It was joy. You frantically look around in your natural home. "Bare. Ah well…", you think to yourself. Getting accustomed to your new body you clumsily begin to walk outside into the sunlight.
Stepping through the light-filled entrance the sun casts its comforting rays on you as you survey the outside world. You are standing on a long plateau allowing to move freely and without having to accommodate for your massive size. Done with your little search you suddenly have an urge to hit something. You turn towards the mountainside and lift a claw high before sending it crashing against the rock-face. The rock may as well had been made out of butter as your claw tears through it sending bits of rock everywhere. You stand there amazed at your strength, your might. You lift your claw again and send it crashing into the rock with similar results. You smile and begin to shift your body and prepare to strike the rock face with your tail. You're still getting used to the feeling of having a tail, but as far as you can tell you've adjusted nicely. You wag your tail in preparation for the strike and launch it against your grey opponent. Your tail crashes into the mountainside sending chunks of rock everywhere. You stare at your tail in disbelief.
You begin to laugh at it all. This morning has certainly started off well hasn't it? You continue to laugh for a while before beginning to calm down. Suddenly, your stomach begins to rumble and you clutch your side as if in pain. That didn't feel right at all and your thoughts shift towards images of food. You begin to worry. "I don't know how to hunt and even if I did catch an animal would I even be able to eat it?", you think. As you ponder what to do something else seems to pop up in your head. An idea… You grin showing the white barrier of teeth beneath your lips. Now that you're a dragon there is something that you have always wanted to try. Something that you've always believed to be impossible since dragons don't exist. But you need to know something about the inside of your body before you try it. You lean down and pick up a medium sized stone from the ground. You eye it carefully and gently place it on the top of your tongue. Disappointingly, it didn't taste like much, but this was what you expected. It is just a rock. You grudgingly move the rock to the back of your maw and quickly swallow it. Ugh, felt like swallowing a pill. You feel the tiny object descend into your body and rest. You wait for about three minutes before spitting out the rock. It ascends back up your throat into your mouth and you grab it with your tongue. Opening your maw you reach in and grab the small object with two of your fingers to raise to eye-level. It was covered in drool, but nothing else and it was completely intact. So you do have one… You grin to yourself. This is going to be fun.
Several things course through your brain at this point. What you were thinking was that over the course of the last few months you have been reading a lot of stories about dragons who swallow people whole and spit them back out afterwards. At first you didn't really understand what it was, however you kept reading, intrigued by the notion, and you discovered that you began to enjoy this sort of thing. But now that you were a dragon yourself, what's wrong with satisfying your curiosity? You look up and see that you were close to the summit of the mountain. Now if you could only figure out how to fly… You eye your two massive wings nervously. How would you do this? You start off by flapping your wings uselessly. Puzzled, you wonder how you'll manage this. You close your eyes and focus all your concentration on the act of flight. You flap your wings again as fast as you can and before you realize it you have lifted yourself off from the ground. You crack your eyes open and witness your successful escape from gravity. Grinning, you fly yourself to the tip of the mountain and land on its summit like a white king on his throne of stone.
You look downwards onto the large landscape below. You were quite high in the mountains and a human would have difficulty seeing anything other than basic shapes this high up. But you were a dragon, a creature with hawk-like vision. Using your vigilant eyes you begin to scan the land for someone to 'help' you with your dilemma because it's a little hard to eat thin air after all.
A young woman, no older than 18, was wandering amongst the tall grass and sparse trees of the plain. She wore a patched leather bra with a ragged white cloth around her hips and some light leather shoes. She had a deer hide strapped to her back along with a bow and a small quiver filled with arrows. A custom scabbard for a knife was also tied to her waist. Some dead grass crunched beneath her feet as she walked along the bare, open landscape. She took a deep breath and exhaled deeply. Three days ago her tribe had sent her on a walkabout within the wilderness as a rite of passage towards adulthood and that for her to pass she needed to find, kill and skin an animal by herself. She stopped for a second and looked at the deer skin latched to her back; pride swelling in her heart. She had succeeded. Now she simply had to return to her village and celebrate her accomplishment. She gazed out onto the flat, open plain. Nothing caught her eye except for a snow-capped mountain which seemed odd since it was much too early for snow to start falling.
As you screen the landscape, your eyes fall upon the figure of a small human amongst the thin vegetation. A woman from the looks of it. Your excitement grows as you expand your wings and launch yourself into a swaying, downward glide.
The woman was eyeing that summit just as you begin your second flight. She now realizes that it wasn't snow, but some kind of winged animal that was perched on top of the mountain. She saw that it had left its perch and that it was coming directly for her! She quickly pulled out her bow and deftly loaded an arrow. The creature was flying with extraordinary speed and the distance made it easy for the girl to underestimate its size. From what she could guess the creature was gigantic! The woman raised her bow and launched an arrow. She could feel the rush of wind as the arrow left her bow and streaked towards the flying animal. The arrow struck the creature's chest, unfortunately the arrowhead snapped clean-off against its scaly hide. She saw that her arrow had done little to nothing to stop it and while entering a slight panic she turned around and began to run as fast as her legs would allow.
You noticed the arrow that the human had launched at you, but you were relieved that it didn't even penetrate the outer layer of your natural armour. As you watch with amusement you see the woman begin to make a run for it. "They always make that mistake.", you think. Your powerful wingbeats allow you to quickly close the gap between you and your fleeing prey. You outstretch your claw and grab her right as she managed to jump over a fallen log. You make a massive turn around and begin to return to your cave.
As the scaly white claw begins to tighten to keep her steady, she deviously lowers her hand to the knife at her side. Drawing her tiny blade, the woman uttered the mightiest battle cry she could muster and thrust her weapon directly at the creature's chest hoping to strike its heart. However the moment her knife struck the dragon's skin the tip bent completely flat. The woman's eyes went wide with shock and fear as she stared down at her now useless weapon. A knife she had made herself was useless against this animal. She looked up at the creature's face and saw that it had not even noticed her feeble attempt at escape. She continued to hold on to the bent blade for dear life as she and her captor soared higher and higher. Although the sun had been beating down hard all day the temperature began to become noticeably colder as they rose in altitude. Her limited apparel did not help very much with the slight cold and she began to feel discomfort. Where was this thing taking her?
Flying higher up the mountainside, you and your 'catch' approach the cave where you had woken up earlier. Beating your wings and concentrating on staying afloat is a tremendous effort, but you manage to hold out for a bit longer. As you approach the platform, you release your prey gently onto the stone surface and prepare to land. Like your flight, your landing is clumsy since you slip on one of your back paws and land with a thunderous crash. You recover your balance and stand tall on all fours. You shift your eyes towards the human. She had recovered from the flight faster than you had and loaded her bow with another arrow. She released the projectile, only to have it give the exact result as before. She stood in awe at the ineffectiveness of her weaponry then tossed aside her bow, quiver and the deer hide strapped to her back. She then pulls her bent blade and takes a combat stance; waiting for your first move. Now she understood what you were. A dragon. A creature that she had only heard in hushed tones and fireside stories. Something she was always told couldn't possibly exist.
As you watch the woman scurry about with her arsenal, you can't help but laugh at her little panicked dance. "She takes this so seriously. I guess I have to explain to her when this is through." You take a step forward. The woman takes a step back. You considered telling her what was going to happen, but you cast the suggestion out of your mind. Telling her would lessen the experience and besides why would she believe you? For all you knew, you could have only one chance at doing this right. You approach her more quickly now as she turns to run away. You speed up into a gallop and manage to land your claw right on top of her sending her face first onto the ground and sending her useless knife flying. You approach her prone body slowly and begin to smell her. With your improved senses her scent has become quite intoxicating and you can't help but salivate. You open your maw and flex your tongue across her back. As it touches her body your eyes widen in awe. She tasted… incredible and this was just a taste!
She felt the dragon inhale deeply, taking in her scent. She closed her eyes, hoping that this creature would show her mercy. The rhythmic breathing of the dragon had disappeared from the back of her neck and a faint glimmer of hope shot up inside her. Did she smell bad? Her hope was short-lived however as she felt a slimy, slippery membrane streak across her back; covering her in something she wasn't exactly sure what. The feeling continued as her thoughts became confused jumbles of gibberish roaring inside her head. What was going on? Her eyes lit up with sudden understanding. It was the predator, she was its meal.
As you lick the woman she suddenly begins thrashing and wiggling about in an attempt to escape your clutches. However, she didn't nearly have enough strength or endurance to match you. You give out a slight chuckle as she attempts to resist you. You continue to lick her despite her tantrum until you feel the need to push this forward. You lift your claw of the woman who scrambles to get on her back and she tries to push herself away. She only manages a few inches before you pull out your tongue again and wrap around both her legs. You begin to pull her towards your waiting maw as she tries to untangle herself with only her bare hands. Perhaps that knife would have been more useful now. You continue to pull her in until her legs and waist enter your mouth. She tastes so good! You can't help but enjoy every moment of it. She continues to try and stop you from fulfilling your intent, but you can see that she's beginning to get very tired. You straighten your head and wrap your tongue anew around her chest. You gulp, pulling her in further into your body. She had now entered a state of complete panic. Her body had been completely taken over by her survival instinct as she struggles against you. But with her arms pinned, she couldn't offer any form of noticeable resistance. You continue to gulp until her whole body has entered your maw. Closing your mouth, you begin to move your 'prey' around with your tongue; making sure that you savour every last bit. "This was amazing! No wonder dragons like to do this so often!"
Time seems to slow to a crawl as you enjoy your snack. Eventually, you figure that its time to finish this. You lift your head and allow gravity to slide the human to the back of your throat. You gulp; feeling the woman go deeper inside. You gulp several more times before ending it with one hard swallow. You feel her slide down your throat as she approaches her final destination. Of everything so far, this was perhaps the best part. You exhale a sigh of ecstasy; baring the slimy, fleshy entrance to your body. You feel the woman slide into your stomach and to your pleasant surprise you notice that she still has some fight in her. She continues to fight against you; completely unaware that this is only making you enjoy it so much more. Eventually her body failed her and she slumped inside of you, defeated and exhausted. After she settled in, you turn around and reenter your cave.
Hours later…
The woman could hear nothing. See nothing. She cracked her eyes open. It took several moments for her mind to register that she had opened her eyes. What? She was still alive? How? She completely opened her eyes and saw the large, bare cavern that surrounded her. She felt her back move slightly and descend as if in sequence. She looked up and saw the dragon staring down at her; a look of concern apparent on its face. She also saw that she was leaned up against the dragon's chest.
The woman had awoken to your relief. She pushes herself off your chest and starts to crawl away from you. You make no attempt to stop her. The two of you stare at each other for a while. "What's your name?" The woman's eyes go wide with shock at the knowledge of you being able to speak. "What's wrong? Can you not speak?" "I…Ithanca." "Ithanca." You tell her your name as well which seems to calm her down a bit. "Your things are over there." You gesture to a corner with one of your fingers. Ithanca slowly inches her way towards her possessions keeping her eye on you. She attaches the deer skin to her back and acquires the remainder of her things. "I need to return to my people mighty dragon. They'll think I have been killed if I don't return by tonight." She gets up and quickly makes her way outside. Slowly you follow her.
She is standing on the edge of the plateau, a look of complete bewilderment across her face. How is she going to get back down? You roll your eyes in response to her unwillingness. "Come on." You grab the woman with your claw and place her on your back. She grabs hold of one of the spines lining your back as you launch yourself into a not-so graceful dive. You still have to get used to this.
You land several minutes within a day's walk of a small village next to a beach. You allow your passenger to disembark slowly, she paces forward and turns around to look at you, "Thank you mighty dragon." "Stop calling me that. You can address me by my real name Ithanca." She nods in understanding. "I must return to my people, I… hope we can meet again." Huh? Did she actually say that? "Don't worry I'll be where I was before, waiting. Feel free to come by and visit any time. By the way…" You reach towards the side of body and pull off a small, loose scale that you had noticed earlier. "Take it as a memento." Ithanca stretches out her hands in obedience. You drop the scale on her outstretched palms and smile. "I'll see you soon." You flick out your tongue and lick Ithanca across the cheek which causes her to giggle. You give her another lick then launch yourself into the sky. Ithanca can only watch in awe as you disappear over the mountains.

Thank you for the compliment, but why are they at odds with each other? I hardly think that people would be calm and indifferent to the fact that they had been transformed into a dragon. And the woman in the woman, Ithanca, can hardly believe that she's still alive even after meeting and getting swallowed by you.
I had not realized that there was a TV show that carried that name, nor had I ever heard of it before. As for, the story being believable and you questioning your own sanity... Well... The story is believable now that I think about it and life would be very boring if we were all completely sane right? There's no fun without a little bit of crazy in there.
