A few weeks ago I came across one of my old watches.
This very tired and threadbare National Semiconductor watch stayed with me from the last year of grade school, through Jr. High, High School and Technical College and eventually was retired sometime in the early 1990's.
Since I've been on a timepiece binge as of late I gave this old war horse a proper work-over with all of the pins removed and replaced, soaking and then metal cleaning. After a simple repair with a soldering iron it works again, all functions operate.
The movement is a National Semiconductor 909, fabbed and constructed in the US. The watch body and band were made in Manilla.
The plating is gone on a LOT of the body due to corrosion and the acrylic plastic 'crystal' is crazed. The stainless band unsurprisingly is in the best condition.
There is little collectors value in these 1970's era LCD watches, but the prior red LED types do fetch a pretty penny in good functioning condition.
