It had been a while since the Arvion had docked, the whole ship seemed to sigh in relief as the airlocks sealed and the slow hissing of the stations hydraulics confirmed their presence. Slowly the lights returned to their original brightness and the automated system called out in the distance "Docking complete, welcome IX-42."
I certainly wasn't new to the station, nor was I new to any of the mandatory procedures, but there was a sense of freedom when your ships doors slide open, when the air of the Station came rushing into your ship, you felt new, no matter how many times you had docked or undocked, how much experience you had with these places, the feeling never failed to relax you, and this time certainly wasn't any different. Only this time, when I came back and heaved my satisfied sigh, I forgot why I docked in the first place.
Enjoy~
I've been reading a lot of Isaac Asimov lately, mainly 'The Last Question' which so inspired this very song.
