The "Pole" is the landing leg of the small ship which has set down in the clearing. The weapons and sensor gear should be a bit shinier as they belong to a Federation ship from Bernard's "Chakat" universe. (I do kind of like the idea of invading Space Pirates though.) The Pink dots are supposed to be mobile sensor probes that resemble a dull, silver sphere.
