artistic interpretation:
carpe diem is the passing time, right? we clearly have an oposition of life with the nature on the left and death with this dark maw and big teeth on the right. between the two there is love. But the girl loves an avatar of life and nature wich is, if he is the tip of the dragon tongue, an illusion and a trap of death. So she is lured like a fish of the abyss is lured by the light of a anglerfish. But she got an eye on the maw, so she seems aware of all I've just say. But yet she don't try anything to save herself. Maybe because she knows that predation is a major part of nature and life? And becuse love as to stand between the two?

Freudian interpretation.
The personification of the tongue and it's implication in a love relationship with the girl who could be a representation of the artist is clearly a manifestation of her vorarephilia. the oniric background demonstrate that it's a very powerfull artistic motivator.

It wasn't intentional, but that's exactly what it looks like, and I kind of like it better than trying to say his body is there, since there's a distinct lack of detail if his body is actually supposed to continue. XDXDXD

Everyone seemed to get what the maw meant. I mean, in context, it means a lot more than OMG ARTIST LIKES VOAR.

I just explained to my instructor that I've always been fascinated with the idea of being eaten as a metaphor for death. In fact, I was very truthful about the whole thing. People dug it. XD

It's weird, I've never directly associated vore with death. If anything with life, cause I look at the whole shebang, digestion and absorbion and all that. Maybe I'm odd lol.

in that vein, I don't think of death as finality, since I see it in a similar fashion. It's an acknowledgment of death as a part of a process of recycling.
