"Listen, hotshot. You know how to tell a world worth savin'? Look fer the kids. Oceans may be toxic waste, cities just rubble, there can be a deadly mutant plague for what I care... but as long as the kids have time to just be kids an' spend their day playin', that's a world worth fightin' for. Cause that one has a future."
I went to bed early yesterday, knowing full well I'm going to wake up at 2AM. I woke up, struck by a dream about New Exiles, which span into not just this, but also a short story. So I've been sitting here since 2AM, painting this. I have about two hours to run downtown and get it printed and framed for the art show. And to pack my stuff. And to print bookmarks and other materials.
That's so last minute it's not even funny!

Nicely done, as ever, and description just couldn't be more fitting. Just when I was watching a Game of Thrones today, there was a part that was a little bit like this - girl wanted to save her husband so she sacrificed her newborn son so the witch could perform a ritual. But what the witch brought back was just a breathing corpse, without the soul and she said "you wanted him to live, so I gave him life itself. A life without soul is just this" - a world where children can't be a children is just not a world worth saving, as you said, it would be just a life without soul.
