I always liked that character design, if only for the visual similarities to Twin Peaks' Dr. Jacoby and seizure-inducing cartoons.

I don't follow the comic either, but this also strikes me as something that could be out of Unknown Armies. I believe you're familiar with that book. :-} (And this new style does feel like some of your older style, with the crazy texture layering and all. I like it!)
