So everyone was doing these Speedpaint things.
And then
JamminBison made this really cool one last night and I was like- I WANNA BE POPULAR TOO.*
I'm not 100% happy with Gudrun's face, as I think half way through I switched the ligthsource accidentally.
THIS IS WHY REFERENCE MUST ALWAYS BE USED.
I need to get my airbrush kit, STAT. I wanna speedpaint with traditional media.
*Yah, that's right. Saw it last night, didn't comment until this morning. I do that sometimes. I sicken me.
EDIT
Ok, changed the submission file because the light source thing was killing me. As in, I was obsessing over it the ENTIRE. DAY.
I'm still not super happy about the end result, but at least now I can sleep calm.
Doing more of these for sure.

More like it's too much of the brightest light source on Gudrun's face/too many brushstrokes as you said than anything. Also it seems like the light source is coming from two different directions since it seems so directed and sourced from one point on Esben, so it sorta takes away from the effect when Gudrun's own light source is convoluted like you said.

It's when you try and paint out a character, scene, or scenario in a very short given time frame. So you don't have time to smooth things out and make them look polished.. just rush through it and try and get the most important concepts down all the while conveying all the necessary artistic focal points. :)
I don't know if you intended this, but I get the feeling that there is something different in the way you drew Gudrun and Aesben - Aesben looks more free flowing and comprised of his parts, whereas Gudrun looks more solid and a whole that has parts. I don't even know what that means, but it really helps build a contrast of characters.
This is really cool. It's like your canson but digital.
