They did, actually. And I think a bit of poison. I've been sick the last couple days after eating one...

I baked those cookies from sealed containers in the tempermental ovens they were mostly burnt on the bottom but had no poison.

The benefit of temperamental ovens burning your cookies though, it kept those chips nice and soft, even as they cooled. Made the cookies delicious...minus the poison I'm sure NPH slipped into them.
