Fauhredn is the original family that gradually split into three other families as it got too big, but instead of becoming distinct families they still cooperate like one. When a branch of Fauhredn gets too big its children are married into one of the client-Houses. When a client-House's bloodline begins to diverge too much, its children are married back into House Fauhredn proper. It's a very complicated system of incest that keeps the whole thing together. Of course other families are still married in now and then ok. They've been doing this for, like, 500+ years, they know what they are doing by now.

Also they share ancestor ghosts, so between all of them they got, like, thousands. It's kind of ridiculous.
