This is technically old hat, as the original SaGa games were on the Game boy from 89-93 or so, with a rerelease in 98 via Sunsoft.

One of the major draws of the series being the outright insanely different ways to play, though Three (SaGa 3 Jikuu no Hasha Shadow or Light) did try to centralize it, hence why all four main character can transform at will, into beastmen, then monsters if they ate 'infected' (read: monster) meat or cyborgs, then robots, if they used cybernetic implants.
