Hello everyone, Dani here. As some of you may know, I'm a teachers assistant and work at a school in a special ed program designed specifically for students with learning disabilities. I mainly work with kids between the ages of 5 and 10.
Now, you may be wondering why I'm telling you all this. Well, here's the story.
All of my students know just how much I love my younger sister(whom I've practically been a mother to since she was 6), and some of them know that I would go to great lengths to protect her. Well, a few weeks ago I told one of the girls I work with about my sisters birthday(as she was curious to know) being on May 6th.
This little girl, Bailey, is 6 years old. She was born with autism, and just last year she was diagnosed with cancer. But despite all of this, she's the happiest little girl you could ever meet. And she's an aspiring artist, and believe it or not, she idolizes
raesheris . Yes, I am at fault for introducing Bailey to Raesheris's artwork at the beginning of this year, but it was completely by accident. Ever since, Bailey has been bringing in copies of Raesheris's artwork to art period, and using tracing paper to trace the lines of each drawing she brings in. Her goal is to learn from Raesheris's art style, and her dream is to become an artist just like Raesheris.
Well, anyway I really didn't expect her to do anything with the knowledge that my sisters birthday was coming up. Heh, I was wrong. Bailey set out on a mission. She wanted to get a memorable gift for my sister. She knew how much I loved my sister, and she also knew how much I admire Raesheris's work. She made it her mission to commission Raesheris to draw something heartwarming, which would be Bailey's present to my sister.
However, the poor thing didn't understand the PayPal process, and she got frustrated with it. But when she goes on a mission, Bailey is determined to complete her mission. So, she turned to her tracing paper. She took a drawing that Raesheris had drawn a very long while ago(This one: http://e621.net/post/show/145942 can't seem to find it anywhere else) of her sergal character Gaeddar and
kodokuna 's sergal character Alba and inverted it. Then, she traced the lines, while adding some of her own elements to it, colored it in(she even colored in the white parts!), and gave it to me last week.
This week, she asked me if I was going to upload it here to my gallery. At first, I was apprehensive about doing that, fearing copyright infringement. But after I contacted Raesheris and explained the story to her, she said it's alright for me to upload Bailey's drawing. Not only is this Bailey's gift to my sister, but this is also her way of showing just how much she truly admires Raesheris's work.
This is probably the most heartwarming of drawings any of my students have given me, as Bailey practically took the photo of my sister and I in the locket I wear around my neck...and transformed it into this.
It's supposed to be me and my sister in oldschool sergal form, me being the taller white sergal, and my sister Terri being the sergal with gold fur. My sister's name is Terri, yes, but her nickname is Terra, as she loves nature and the Earth. But in the case of this drawing, it's Khione and her own younger sister, Terra. Oh yes, and from now on, this is what Khione will look like. She's no longer feral.
Some things about this drawing are that although Terra's eye's are green, Terri in fact has blue eyes. She only wears contact lenses that turn her eyes green, hence why her sergal self has green eyes like Terra. As for Khione, she practically represents me, a loving and caring older sister that holds her younger sister very close to her heart. No, I'm not albino, I'll make that known. And what does the little wrist band stand for? Well, I wear the exact same wrist band, and it says, "FIGHTING SPIRIT" on it. And yes, mine is blue, just like in the drawing. And no, it's a one of a kind wrist band, as I got it as a present from a friend who makes custom rubber wrist bands.
Well, I hope everyone likes this! And I hope you can appreciate what Bailey has done, as well as her story!

Well thanks you! :) It really is a joy working with kids like Bailey. Bailey, however, holds a special place in my heart, as she reminds me a lot of myself. Like her, I used to dream of being a great artist. But I was never able to create anything that I could have been proud of. Bailey, on the other hand never gives up on anything, unlike me lol.
