.....and me! :D
First of all, if you don't know what Calvin and Hobbes is then put down your internets and GO READ THE ENTIRE COLLECTION.
I didn't have video games or internet as a kid. We had a TV with a few channels, a 5 acre orchard with a canyon running along one side of it, and the Cascade mountain ranges in the distance. I had the outdoors.
If you're familiar with C&H then you probably know where I'm coming from. Give a kid nothing to do and the great out doors to do it in and pretty soon the world becomes his playground. He'll climb those orchard tree and swing from branch to branch pretending he's in a jungle. He'll charge bravely down that canyon slope and into the dark ravine below... and then coming scurrying back up a few minutes later because Jeezus CHRIST there's something down there! It would usually be deer or coyote, but hey it could've been killer mutant snowman, who knows!
That special connection I have with Calvin and Hobbes comes from having so much in common with Calvin. I was that kid with the wild imagination who daydreamed through class and ran around in the great outdoors. When someone asks me what my childhood was like I take a small bit of pride in pointing out any C&H collection and saying "That." I feel my life in the pages of those comics, like a mirror to my childhood, and I'm sure many of you feel that as well. After all, having a powerful imagination is the first step to becoming a furry ;)

Calvin and Hobbes was one of the most amazing things from my childhood...I'd read them cover to cover, pick up the next one, do the same, until I finished every book I had, and do it all over again. I think Hobbes definitely has an influence on my furry-ness. God, these were amazing! You ever read the collection edition ones? Those are great.
They had some strips that were not in the book, but they also had a lot of "commentary", or written passages about motivations behind strips, how they were created, etc. They are really cool! Check them out, I really enjoyed reading them. Hell, I love reading anything Calvin and Hobbes!
I also like Calvin & Hobbes. I too has all sorts of adventures with my tigerlion:
