Another profile for a change. Dug around my old files, found the DSB-73 templates. One of them had a glass nose, which I set up here. Don´t know why I never posted a profile of this model before, maybe I thought there already were enough pointy-nosed space bombers.

Anyways, this is a DSB-73MFI (Model M, Foreign, Improved) with a local upgrade (Mod B), formerly of home defense priory 700 of the Eripen outworld Alpit. After the Eripen worlds were invaded by the humans, and the interceptor network was put in place, a lot of craft were moved to the Eripen mainworld in preparation for the second stage of the invasion.

This particular craft was flown to one of the continental bases after its unit was destroyed on the ground by a RKI attack, and received an ad-hoc camouflage paintjob over its baremetal skin, in addition to new Unit markings and registry numbers. Also replaced was the unique Eripen roundel: instead, a common Csye roundel was painted on, to show the affiliation of Eripen with the Csye heartworlds.

The M-model is a glass nosed version of the DSB-73, and was sort of an abandoned project. Initially it was supposed to be a manned reconaissance ship for high altitude and interplanetary recon, but the csye decided to instead use drones. The M-model was then reconverted to a strategic cruise-misseleer, albeit without the dedicated radar suite common to its dedicated brethren. Because of this, initial production models needed radar-equipped craft to buddy-illuminate their targets for them. It wasn´t until the dedicated APS-Mistclaw was developed that the M was put into full production. The APS-Mistclaw is an orbital-class ballistic missle, developed for battlefield interdiction, using neutron or conventional fusion warheads.

The Bomber also retained its abillity to carry a large variety of conventional, atmospheric munitions, air breathing cruise missles, bombs, rockets and mines.

The glass nose is also equipped in some craft with a high-resolution, multi-spectral telescope for passive missle guidance and reconaissance.
