It's a bitch operating hand percussion from a drum set, but congas are usually a good height. If you can make stick-to-bare hand transitions with ease, I'd say a plastic bucket, a gong, a xylophone made from chimp skulls and various wooden blocks might just as well add some new groovy expanded sounds. Though I play drum kits as well, they ain't exactly my forte. The best I can tell ya is to experiment with everything.
