Some of you might remember this image nearly a year back; well, now I've upped the ante and then placed a LOT more upon the space now that my fengshui is somewhat better. Many of these items have a story of their own. The small Horus statue, the candles, the glow-in-the-dark pyramid, the eagle figurines, and the elemental stones, all those are from the last time. Let me show you what of the fascinating arrays here:
- Purple pentagram Altar Cloth: Got this one at a New Age store. It's a bit faded from being washed but serves the purpose well. I've also got another one with a triple moon design that might also work.
- Backing panels: That would actually be the Spirit of the Ancestors Altar Kit by Monte Farber and Amy Zerner. I got it at a bargain price from Half-Price Books and it's a really cool addition to my current paraphernalia. Also included in the kit are incense sticks and an incense disk to put them on (not shown).
- Bast figurine: I got it from the New Age shop as well as a companion for the Horus statue. I tried to make a male/female dichotomy in my setup, so I incorporated her image into the place.
- Anubis statue, scarabs, ushabti, and big Ra statue: These were stuff I got during a recent trip to Chicago; the Anubis and scarabs came from the Field Museum while the ushabti and Ra figure came from the Oriental Institute at the University of Chicago grounds. Totally worth the money I shelled out for these :). I also like how the colors of the scarabs have a certain correspondence with the four elements.
- Inception top: Online. The tip is worn a bit but it still spins fabulously
- Athame: Actually a bottle opener balisong, one of these. I had to change the bolts myself, and it functions quite beautifully.
- Sivalingam: Got this one at a rock and minerals show downtown. Pretty neat :)
- Wand: Ordered off of eBay
- Evil eye pendant and moonstone egg: Got these from a place called Tropical Trends; they sell pretty useful stuff there sometimes
- Glass pyramid: The front part actually opens out so you can put stuff in there. I got this one from Volunteers of America; no idea how THAT got there. Oh, and the red tiny cloth also came from there.
- Haunted Key: This is actually a magic trick from the magic shop. It symbolizes Sean's role as the gatekeeper in his reaper job.
- LCD candles: They light the place decently and are much safer than real ones. Of course, they don't supply as much light but that's okay I guess
- Miscellaneous items I got from work: The wooden ankh, the bell, the dragon statuettes, the hematite stones, the chalice, the seashell right behind the moonstone dragon egg on the left, the tiny owl figure on the right and the Desert Magic sage stick were all acquired from work after my shift ended. You tend to accumulate quite an interesting selection if you work at a thrift shop :)
Anyway guys, tell me what you think! I made this because I felt like adding objects that were meaningful to me as opposed to because I knew what in Duat I was doing, so if you have any tips, please let me know :)
