D-C Armories: AK-74 Mod-0 "Fenris" Assault Rifle
Dee-Cee (my closet monster character) is an armorer in her spare time. She likes to make new guns.
A recent acquisition of hers, Dee's "Fenris" rifle was sourced directly from an old Soviet cache, fully equipped and ready for action. One of the only automatic weapons in her arsenal, Fenris has an EO Tech holographic platform and diagonal foregrip with incorporated high-power Aimpoint laser. The AK has been machined and reworked under the hood in order to create a stable and reliable firing platform with three times the precision, accuracy and controllability of the original Russian-built weapon.
I drew this freehand (no tracing, and with only limited photo references) on a piece of printer paper with a standard No. 2 pencil, then took a picture with my Android's camera and colored it in PAINT.NET. I made very heavy use of the Multiply feature.
Personally, I think the barrel might be a bit on the long side for a Kalashnikov, but overall I'm very proud with the outcome.
PLEASE comment if you like it or don't like it or if you're a guntard or if you have suggestions for future weapons or whatever.

thanks a lot. i love soviet guns, too. something about them just seems so pure and unfettered, like their very essence is of a deadly, loyal machine. they're quite beautiful too, if you take good care of them and don't let them get all Chinese-Type-56-scuffed-and-dirty. they've got a charm all their own, nothing like what NATO or the Soviet Union could have forced on them.
it's for two reasons.
first, there are studies that show the wrist and arm become less fatigued while holding a gun with a slanted foregrip for a long period of time than they would with either a vertical grip or a plain horizontal forestock.
the second reason has to do with legality. vertical stocks are becoming harder to justify, especially on home- and personal-defense weapons, where such a tool is an essential addition. the diagonal grip offers the same increased control over your weapon while working through a loophole in the laws-that-be which limit the more common "assault accessories".

i need to get ahold of some before some legislature comes around that says they give baby penguins cancer, or whatever the popular excuse is they're throwing out these days. i'd actually love to get an AK just like this one made, but even though the gun itself is only like four hundred bucks the accessories probably cost like seven hundred on their own.
and yesh, i fucking LOVE plastic magazines. i don't care if they're bakelite or the old Soviet ones (which look like they could fall apart in ten seconds), there's just something about the tactility and color that makes me feel giddy and slightly moist.
