I’ve always felt fear is irrational at its most basic definition,
But to write off this response of the heart leaves a frightening premonition,
It’s impossible to determine what defeat would entail,
Yet we know that misery will ensue if darkness is to prevail,
Humanity by nature shares its fear of facing the world in its fight,
Lacking the other wing to allow love to come into sight,
To look to your left and right and find you own shadow,
To sit alone in the ray of sunlight dashing the meadow,
Waiting for love to fly above and swiftly dream you away,
Before you can even find an excuse to say,
That you aren’t worthy of love and all it demands,
Only to fall away and wince in pain as the world lands,
Looking up at those who’ve already flown into the dawn,
As another ounce of blood from your soul is drawn,
Another nightmare is accentuated in dashèd dreams withsent,
While the rest of the world lives in their pleasant present,
To be joined with another lost soul would bring the prettiest light,
Facing the world with a shared and challenged plight,
Hand in hand; heart in heart; dream in dream,
To be reminded this world isn’t what it would seem,
To hold each other as the stones of affliction are thrown,
And the seeds of woe are again sown,
To even the odds from this world that isn’t fair,
And to bring favor to your race of fighting despair,
The lips of another to pass along your desperate sorrows,
While receiving their quandaries and assisting with painful tomorrows,
To look into eyes of sunlight and hope,
While tearing through desolation’s binding rope,
Absorbing the warmth of their voice into yours as well,
And to wish that nightmares of their own you might quell,
To confront that long teasing word ‘love’,
Allowing such a term to send your mind to a new above,
Breaking records of formerly unknown tranquility,
Bringing the weary mind to a peaceful civility,
No one on this earth is meant to face the dark alone,
To join hands with the reality of love before it’s flown,
Viewing this broken and humbled world as it was intended to be,
Finding perfection with the harmonized souls we cannot see,
Go on with a renewed hope and brazen it out,
Never become comfortable within yourself who is without,
You are intended to be complete with the existence of your other,
The other half of your heart awaits for you to find one another…
