This was done with the indirect help of Leomon32. Just wanted to make that known before I start on her story (PS, this will be a long story) XD
In Tech's world there are believed to be only 8 elements a human can control, Earth, fire, wind, water, plant, metal, thunder, and ice, but there are many other special ones that are granted to few people. At the center of the lake region is the Clearsea family, a very well known and respected family. The original Clearsea woman is known to her family as the very first Light of Earth, receiving a divine blessing from the gods themselves, the elemental abilities of light.
She started the family on traditions. She sought to teach people the abilities of light without them receiving the blessing allowing her family to develop high spiritual energies and abilities. Many became psychic, fortune tellers, exorcise, and many other divine jobs, but alas, noone was able to reach the light of the light of the earth without the gods' blessing, soon that story became myth as the Light of Earth became nothing more than a role model.
Centuries passed and the family was strong. They knew their place in the world and kept piece threw out the lake till they came of age and left their home to populate other regions. A woman had a baby with light brown hair and beautiful blue eyes, she was named Maria.
Maria was different than her peers. She had little desire to follow the divine teachings, questioning if it was right for humans to know the future or to try using the gods' gift without being blessed with it themselves. She was made fun of often for her belief as well as the fact she never fit in. She was a klutz, making her fall over anything and everything, when she got excited she got loud and forgot how to speak properly.
Her mother always assured her to just be herself and that's what she did.She was happy when she was able to enter her spirit form. Dispite being a swan, the symbol of the Clearsea family her peers still didn't like her, but she didn't care because she had a new friend, Katara the swan spirit. Maria and Katara were such good friends that Maria lost the ability to hide her wings. Everyone called her a showoff, said that she would never amount to anything, but she stayed true to herself, she told everyone that if she was meant to use the divine powers of her family the gods would give them to her personally and Katara believed in her completely.
Despite being such a klutz she was an elegant dancer. She would dance for hours at night by the lake in her secret spot. She would dance until the moon is big and bright above her way past when most of the family was asleep. One night she stopped suddenly. She looked over her shoulder at the trees that blocked the vision of the city. Worried for what seemed to be no reason at all she ran, not to the city, but deeper into the woods. It was forbidden under punishment of exile for a Clearsea to leave the safety of the village till they were of age, but something was making her worry. She hit the clearing at top speed, so focused she didn't trip fall or even make a sound. She ran right to a woman's side. She never met this woman, but somehow she knew she was in trouble. She was cut up and bruised, being a water user Maria naturally knew some healing techniques to try and help her as the woman continued crying and asked her for help.
2 men came out of the bushes into the clearing. Maria stood up and spread her arms and wings despite knowing she was weak and delicate blocking the way of the men and the woman she had only just met. "Get out of the way girl. This is business between the Mountains and the Lake" one of the men said.
The Mountain Region was a harsh land. It was rocky and hard to get to, but they were able to survive and get by. News from the Mountains said they had a secret weapon, one so big they can destroy anyone that stood in their way, Maria heard the stories that they destroyed a few villages for not giving them what they want.
Dispite the fear she felt of what the men could do she held her ground, "I am a woman of the Lake so this is my business. What do you want with this woman?" One of the men smirked, "She was chosen to unify the Mountains and the Lake. That woman is the princess and she is to marry our prince, it has been arranged already but she thought she could get away." Maria looked over her shoulder. She looked around Maria's age, 17. She had fins on her arms and a long tail fin, as a sign or royalty the royal family always have an animal part out as well as their crown.
"Take me instead" Maria heard the gasp from the princess over the laugh of the men. Why would we take some random bitch when we were ordered to receive the princess?" "I am Maria Clearsea, daughter of the elder. In terms I am more valuable because the advice and abilities of my family are what aid the king and queen to make our land what it is. Take me and you'll have the most powerful fortune teller helping you to get me back." Maria spoke confidently, but she had no desire to burden her family. She had left the village of her family and was subject to exile and she accepted this. To follow the rules means Maria was no longer a Clearsea.
"I heard about you Clearseas before. The boss has been wantin one of you guys for a while," one guy said, "Our lucky day. We'll deliver the both of you, I'm sure we'll get promoted for this." The men ran for Maria but a sudden flash of red light stopped them cold. Maria continued standing there with her arms spread but her eyes were closed. The only thought on her mind was somehow protecting the princess behind her, but then she felt a hand on her cheek. She opened her eyes and say another woman in glowing red light. She had long hair and elegant clothing made out of what looked like mist. She looked directly into Maria's eyes, she was so warm. The men were astounded and the princess got to her knees, the Goddess of Life had appeared before them.
Without saying a word she opened her hand and placed a star into Maria's. the star was bright and calmly went into Maria's body. Her hair was turned snow white and her eyes light pink as a staff stretched from her hands same color as the Goddess. Maria knew what was happening, she had become a light just like the first Clearsea. "Why me?" The Goddess smiled and faded, "Only those that would follow their own path receive this gift. You not only followed your own heart, but you are willing to give up your life so someone else may follow their path. Go ahead protect the lives you hold dear, I trust you will not tarnish this gift."
Maria stood there with the staff, half in dream, her once blue aura now bright white. She heard one of the men mention how valuable she was now as they ran for her. She pointed her staff at the men and they were bound in crystal water. "I'm sorry, but I won't allow you to put this woman in any more danger." One of the men got his arms free, "DIE YOU BITCH!" She shouted as he shot a bolt of lightning at her. The lightning quickly fizzed away as it got close to Maria. "Please, just go home. I'm worried about the princess." The other man looked her dead in the eyes, "If we don't deliver that princess the deals off. You know what that means right? The mountain and the Lake will go to war." Maria smiled calmly. I know. And I will protect the lives or both the Lake and the Mountain, but for now, please, go home." The gem on her staff started glowing and the men turned into balls of light, both which flew up and away back to the mountains.
Maria turned to the princess who was still in awe, "Thank you. Thank you thank you." Maria kneeled beside the princess of the Lake, "Please don't thank me, anyone should have done that. Let me take you to my home. I'll make you some dinner and I'll make sure you get home safely in the morning"
Maria carried the princess on her back. Despite them being the same size Maria had a new strength that made her feel as light as a feather. The town was chaotic, Maria's mom told everyone Maria wasn't home and to gather at the Light's shrine. As Maria walked back everyone saw her instantly. The had broken 2 major rules, no leaving the town underaged, and no outsiders unless they were married. Maria didn't care, she wanted to go home and make sure the princess was ok, but 2 or the guards grabbed her. She fought her arms free and looked them dead in the eyes, "If I drop this woman both of you will regret it." The guards backed off and lead Maria to the alter where her mother was waiting. She heard murmurs about her new hair and eyes as well as the staff the princess was carrying for her. There was already a bed waiting as her mother spoke with a kind voice, "Please place the princess on the bed, this won't take long."
Maria didn't question how her mom knew, being the village elder as well as a fortune teller meant she knew everything. Her mom lead her before the crowd, "Family. Tonight is a special occasion. The Light of the Lake has been born." The crowd was buzzing with conversation. The girl they made fun of and put down now a Light, the very thing they worship and idolize. "Mom, this is embarrassing." Maria said not really liking this kind of attention. "Furthermore. The rule about not leaving the village is void," There was more talking, "My family. I regret to inform you that there will be war in no less than 3 months. I want all of you to help protect and evacuate the major cities of the Lake, Maria will stand alone. Argument started immediately. The girl with no divine abilities, the loud one, the one that trips on air, now the defender of the Lake. It was hard for them to process. Maria was relieved, she wouldn't have to worry about her family getting harmed. "I always knew you'd do something big someday baby, but don't get to excited, war isn't your biggest concern. It's the 3 men you meet because of it." Maria turned to try and question her mother but she was already walking away into the crowd getting questioned about her sanity.
A year had passed and the fighting had already started. The outermost cities were already evacuated and destroyed. Maria stood in the path between a huge army and the royal city of the Lake. "The first person we see and it's just a girl? what a joke." Arrows were shot, Maria just raised her staff and they all vanished into light. She spoke in a voice amplified by the gem of her staff, "I refuse to kill anyone or to let you harm anyone. Please go home, this war will not start." She raised her staff high above her head and the water from the lake jumped high into the air and created a dome around the royal city and turned to crystal right behind her. She calmly walked towrds the army by herself as they ran for her. The men that went for her were all turned to light and sent back home as the men that passed her were stopped cold by the impenetrable crystal wall. "Please, you have a weapon that gives you hope. I wish to see it.
The army went silent. Seeing it as pointless to fight her they circled her leaving only one hole, enough space for a single man who stepped foward. "You are by yourself yet you stopped the entire army AND called me out. I guess your my opposite." Maria stared at a man with a huge black aura. He wore the green uniform of the mountain and carried a black katana. The 2 people that single handedly changed the fate of their regions. Kuro, the one that made the Mountain a force to be feared and Maria who in a year make the Lake a haven for everyone. "Please. I don't want to fight." Kuro laughed, "I do." He ran for her.
The crystal water was matched with black shadows. Maria's abilities couldn't touch him and hers couldn't harm her but they both knew only one of them could win. The war turned into a playground fight. The men cheering Kuro on and telling him to kill her and all Maria had was her mom and the princess, standing silently inside of the crystal wall. Kuro touched Maria with his sword and she felt an odd pain as her body wasn't cut, but the white aura around her. "I thought so," Kuro smirked, "Unlike that stick of yours my sword is a weapon that uses my darkness to cut people's spirits. As soon as I cut down your spirit energy that walls comin down." Maria pointed her staff at Kuro. The wing shapes opened up and folded down twords Maria, a wing shaped handle and trigger appeared which she grabbed and pulled. The orb shot a pulse at Kuro which he barely dodged, the men she hit fell to the ground, their darkness floating above them before vanishing in the light. Maria smiled, "I'm just going easy on you because this is war, but if you'd like to fight for fun I'd be happy to. Her staff finished transforming into what looked like a crossbow.
Kuro laughed, "I've never had this much fun, damn, if I didn't have to kill you I bet we'd be good friends." Maria was smiling to, "As sweet as the offer is I'd have to get rid of the darkness first. The fight continued. Maria started using her wings to make sure she stayed away from Kuro's sword as she tried shooting him, taking out as many of the solders as she could destroying their evil intent. Finally Kuro stopped and walked up to the wall where Maria's mom and the Princess were standing. "I respect that there are people you have to protect, but if you don't fight for real I'm going to kill them, these two I'll get rid of first," and with that ram horns grew out of his head and he started punching the wall. It started cracking instantly as he punched it again and again. Worried Maria landed far from Kuro and aimed a large shot, focusing so hard that there was no way she would miss.
Kuro straightened himself out and Maria found she couldn't pull the trigger. She was stuck. She pointed the crossbow into the sky and fired before dropping it and standing up. She didn't notice Kuro's shadow was now holding hers and as it forced hers to walk her legs moved twords Kuro who in turn walked to her, sword already out. "You are very powerful, but you won't fight, you could have got me plenty of times but you weren't serious enough." Maria looked into his eyes and confirmed what she felt all along. Darkness was almost all s he had, if she had shot him he would have died.
"I'm sorry, but even someone as dark as you doesn't deserve to die." Kuro raised an eyebrow, "So your willing to let me live? Even if that means you will die?" Maria smiled calmly, "Yes, because I enjoyed my life. People were mean to me yes, but I still had people I needed to care for, even some strangers made me happy and no matter what I will die happy. You, I feel sorry for you. Your people didn't like you till you showed your strength, and even still you want to kill them." Ah, I forgot the Clearsea family was psychic, but then why couldn't you see this coming?" "I'm not psychic. I just see it in your eyes. I know there's a good guy in there. I see him." "Sorry honey, but that guy died along time ago." No he didn't, and I'll show you."
Maria's body shined so bright Kuro's shadow had to let go of hers. Kuro was stunned and couldn't see and was shocked to find Maria hugging him and crying. "It's ok. At least for now I want you to feel happy." The sky went dark but the ground started glowing. Maria's mom started smiling and the men of Kuro's army started yelling. Both Maria's crossbow and Kuro's sword started fading and the crystal wall shattered. "I know who you really are Kuro Mankoteku, and I swear I won't let you go." She squeezed harder and Kuro couldn't resist. His black eyes lightened as his black aura turned green and Maria's white one turned back into the blue it was before she turned into a light, their powers neutralizing each other, freeing Kuro from the hatred he's always felt.
Maria let go and fell asleep. Kuro picked her up in his arms, not really knowing what to say. "HE WON!!!" "WAY TO GO KURO!!!" "ONTO THE CASTLE!!!" the men Maria didn't get started shouting. Kuro looked up and stomped his foot. A wall of black shadows mixed with that was left of Maria's crystal blocked their path. "No. She won. The war is over we lost" The men were outraged as Kuro was suddenly surrounded by black spikes. "DO ANY OF YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT!!!??" The men knew Kuro had no problem killing his own comrads and stepped down, they walked away as the ones Maria shot celebrated.
Kuro lowered the wall and walked up to Maria's mom. "Um..Yea, I'm, uh." "Lets get her back home first, poor thing's exhausted." Wha!? But I..." "No buts, come with me." Maria held on tight to Kuro's arm, he honestly had no idea what he was doing, he hasn't felt the need to apologize sense he was a kid.
Back at Maria's house Kuro put her on her bed, she was reluctant to let go, but was just to tired to hold on. Kuro couldn't help but stair at her sleeping. "My daughter is lucky to have such a handsome man." Kuro blushed and turned to argue but Maria's mom just put a finger to his lips, "She may not be psychic but I most certainly am," She smiled and turned away, "I'll go make some tea. Oh, and I always liked the name Maximillian, but knowing you you'll probably just call him Max." "Wait, what?" "Oh nothing, just a crazy old woman talking," She laughed to herself and walked away. Kuro felt he overstayed his welcome and walked to the door. He heard Maria call his name softly in her sleep before he left. Such a crazy woman.........But I guess I was wrong, were not going to be good friends at all are we?" Kuro started blushing some more and then got angry with himself, what am I doing still here, I have to report back." Kuro stomped out, without looking up Maria's mom said lovingly, see you later, Kuro Mankoteku.
Originally I was going to write up till she died, but I think this is a good place to stop.
