a commission from SilverPhoenix on DA http://sliverphoenix.deviantart.com/ this is after the wedding defeat as she regroups a few of the swarm that stayed to protect the hive approach with a problem. "your majesty.. the children are hungry" the changelings humbly speak as two of the young cry from hunger. anger rips thru her as tears flow cursing her defeat to cadence and shinning armor " fear not we will find food" she assures them even tho she knows they may be left to starve to death after the latest defeat.

I like this interesting take on Chrysalis. Whereas the episode showed things from the pony end of the story, this is the other side. Chrysalis states her goal is to feed her subjects- it's right there. If your goal was the nourishment of your people - their survival - you would let nothing stand in your way. If there is any chance that there is no diplomatic solution, you won't take chances. Being intimidating to the source of your food is a necessity. So yeah, I'm pretty impressed by this concept.
that's how i felt too, its easy to take celestia's side and point a finger saying the changelings are evil and the princess is good. but when you look at it from the changelings side you get the same view but this time its celestia that's the evil one. truth is neither are evil they are both looking to protect there kingdom she made it clear that this was the most abundant source of love. I don't feel like it was a choice to hurt anypony but cadence and twilight got in the way of her feeding her kingdom and in any battle the sacrifice of a few is just to save thousands. I see no reason why both kingdoms couldn't co-exists they could help with duties in the kingdom while feeding on the love the pony's share and the ponies could have more friends to love.
I agree that both are for the well-being of their respective kingdoms. Things could have been done differently, though, and unfortunately Chrysalis would find it hard to convince a wary Celestia otherwise. This may lead to further desperation. However, I don't think that Celestia would be totally hard-hearted if she saw the young changelings. I think for them she'd consider something for them at least, though it would be on her terms. This is just my thoughts though, I'm really not sure how it'd go.
yeah after the attempt on canterlot there's no way celestia is going to listen to the adults and sadly she can't see what effect it have on the young changelings. it would take a mediator to get them on neutral ground to work out a deal. in the end it really depend on if chrysalis could humble herself and set aside the pride of being queen to agree to the princesses terms. tho its not likely it ever happen in the show but it be a great lesson in friendship. something along the lines "with friendship and understanding even those whom may be seen as an enemy can become a friend"
it is sad its not like there asking to harm anyone they only want the emotions that otherwise go to waste. I'm sure if celestia would see the foals she'd change her mind but I doubt she'd dare go into the hive to see it for her self. at least they have enough fans to keep them alive till they can get a more abundant source of love.
thank you. MLP:FiM does have some good writers and animators which makes it really nice. my view on what happen was based on the fact no one fights for whats wrong, everyone fights for what they believe is right. in this case a queen desperate to provide for her subjects. I had this done after reading a comment to a filly version of chrysalis in which she said when she grew she'd make sure no one ever went hungry again. I'm hoping someday that will be true.
