Halfway through coloring this some emotional drama happened so I'm not sure how I managed to get it done, but anyway here it is. It was a welcome distraction after I calmed myself enough to focus again.
Tuesday while out at the store I saw the dvd for "The Lion King 1/2" (aka the Timon and Pumbaa movie) and eye twitched at how much it annoys me...and what they could have done instead. Right then and there I figured I'd have to make a TLK prequel poster when I got home, and started sketching this concept the very same night. So, here's a poster for the TLK movie we'll never get (and if we ever did I think Disney would ruin it) it also works for my fan fiction so hooray. I went with "Scars of the Past" since it sounded more unique than the much over-used "Tale of Two Brothers". :p
My take on Ahadi and Uru aren't the typical designs I see most people using, I thought it was cooler to come up with my own versions of them so that's what I did. Mufasa has such a derpy expression here and my shitty ink pen messed up the eyes on a few of them, but it's not too awful I guess. I sorta like how Taka/Scar came out. He looks like he's up to something...or just waving at the viewers, 'cause he's cute and he knows it. :D
Rafiki's tree paintings of the two brothers were one of the last minute additions to this picture (along with the "darkness" and scenes of Scar as we know him in TLK) Mufasa has the prince mark while Taka has a dark smudge over his chest. Like what Rafiki did to Kovu's tree painting, that represents the "darkness/hatred in his heart" (judgemental madrill and his bad vibes)
So anyways, there it is...not perfect but what is. I love my TLK addiction. :D
