At the early stages of its life, the Phytogast doesn't do very much, it hatches from its egg, and finds a nice place to stay where it can get as much sun as possable. Any creature that walks by it however, that stops to inspect or sniff the flowers on its body, shoot out a dangerous nerve pollen that causes sleep in only a few short seconds. The target is then knocked out, and during this time is when it works its magic. The Phytogast then uproots itself and plants itself into the back of the neck, tapping into the nervous system and sucking some of the fluids from the victim. It is only a short process, about an hour's time and it has sucked enough nutrients from its victim to survive it for a whole week. In cases of non-human subjects being rooted, it stays on its victim like a parasite, sucking the prey dry over the course of many extended days. we suspect it has intelligence, due to its neglection towards humans, and other intelligent beings, probably a long built in defence mechanism from when it first feasted on humans, and was removed and killed from its prey shortly after it regained consciousness. Definately a beautiful subject of flora, but definately just as deadly to its victims if left unchecked.
As for the bell flower on the top of the female Phytogast seems to be the receptical for pollen exuded by the male Phytogasts during a windy day. The pollen enters the bell flower, and over the course of several days the pollen actually grows into the eggs inside of the phytogast, which it drops off in a safe area to hatch and grow.
