With full VTOL, adjusting wings going from supersonic swept, to what you see here, to angled biplane configuration it's speed ranges from 0 to Mach 2.9
An extensive sensor and countermeasure package makes it hard to detect on RADAR and at it's cruising speed of Mach 1.5 it can get to where it's needed insanely fast.
It shares obvious design similarities with the MKIII "HoverFly" drop ship but lacks the added rear thrusters and thus has only a limited carrying capability.
The rear weapons pods hold up to 24 missiles of AA and AG at the same time and are mobile, allowing for firing above or beneath the fuselage.
The artillery style gun fixed to the port forward fuselage allows for long range "sniping" of ground targets while the rotary cannon imbedded in the nose on the starboard side allows shorter range blasting of armored ground or air targets.
A 2 man crew allows for a dedicated Weapons Systems Officer meaning targets can be tracked, identified and destroyed from extreme range, often before the Dragonfly can even be detected.
While the Kestrel ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7338242/ ) and Lightstep (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4108487/ ) are more or less dedicated air to air combat interceptors, the Dragonfly can be used as an air to air stand off fighter or in ground attack, a job in which it particularly shines.
A heavy payload, stall speed without VTOL potentially as low as 110MPH and an incredibly sturdy frame, the Dragonfly is perfect for ground attack, one notable craft sustained 2 direct SAM hits and enough AAA fire to disable 1 engine, remove both weapons pod, 1 wing tip and both tail fins on the starboard side and still bringing both it's crew home with only minor injuries, landing safely at the nearest allied airbase.
-A brand new addition to the future military, the dragonfly looks set to have a place on the battle field for many years to come.
This is it's 7th and final version, a design which I've been working on for about 3 years. There are also internal schematics which, provided I've done my math right, should ACTUALLY fly if made. For obvious reasons I'm keeping those offline :P
Hope you like!!
