Elaine has the short hair and Candi has the long. Both are freckled and brown haired. Elaine had wanted her hair off, so Candi cut it with a pocket knife the first time, after that it got trimmed up.
The two girls have a rare ability They can feed energy to other people or being, taking one type of power and converting it to something universally used. They have the ability to 'loop' this power. In looping it becomes stronger and 'purifies' itself. They are referred to often as catalysts. They have the ability to feed human mages, people with other abilities like telepaths and seers, and if they are pacted to an elemental this makes them stronger and gives them some use of the elemental's abilities. But they can not preform magic like a mage can. Instead it is more of a hot fire that another is able to give shape to.
Another type of human power converter, though ALOT more rare is a Pure Soul, Pure Souls don't just convert energy they can purify it in themselves and can even purify tainted ground, when connected to a mage or elemental they increase in power than as just a mere human. A few pure souls even have the ability to tap into something called "earth song" or refered to by elementals as "Mother song" This is dangerous, for earth song is the life energy of the planet and stars, and can burn a mear human to nothing but a thin shell.
Catalysts can turn the tide of battle, a pure soul can change the very rules of the game.
