So here's my cutey roe deery-raccoony fursona again. He has more clothes than the last time. :P
I'm an tenor recorder player (mostly self-taught), and so is he. As a baroque music fan, I could only love the sound of this instrument. In any case it's much softer on the ears than those squeaky descant recorders we used to play at school. :D
As for his costume, I drew inspiration from early 20th century formal uniforms (think for example of the saint-cyriens', or the U.S. Marines dress uniforms). Hence the standing collar, the red cuffs and epaulettes and the striped trousers. But it doesn't mean he's a serviceman (fun fact: I'm very anti-militaristic myself!)
I wanted a really distinctive costume, so I added this golden honeysuckle pattern on his chest. I chose honeysuckle mainly because I love this flower' perfume and shape, but also because in the French language "honeysuckle" (chèvrefeuille) sounds a bit like "roe deer" (chevreuil). I thought it suited this little guy well. :3
Kudos to whoever tells me what he intends to play. ;o)

We want moar :D
At last someone else who likes the recorder! :p
I couldn't agree more with you about the tenor. Since I drew this piece, I bought an alto and I think it's a nice compromise, being soft on the ears and portable enough to be carried in a backpack, but nothing compares to the deep and mellow tone of the tenor! I brought them at EuroFurence and somehow caught the attention of a fellow musician (this gentleman
:3). We had a great conversation together and this was one of the few good moments I spent at this convention.

This is the collection I have: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/mrinitialman/
I take it you didn't like Eurofurence?

Nice collection! :o These instruments are made by Moeck, aren't they? Made of maple?
As for EF, well, it was my first furry convention. I had great expectations, but I quickly realized that EF is a big, cold machine with no place where you can significantly interact with people you don't already know. And the Pawpet Show was a real sham!
That's the short version. I elaborated a bit here : http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3819015/ (In French only, sorry!)

I agree, but it should be noted that most Frenchmen (at least, those who're under 60!) are only familiar with plastic descant recorders (since they were massively used by the French educational system, see my following comment), and what's much worse, with very badly played plastic recorders.
So basically, in spite of all its merits, playing descant recorder in public is a big 'no-no'! Altos and tenors get more respect in general. :3

Um, no, never happened to me! French people are actually quite familiar with the recorder, since playing it was practically mandatory in middle schools until September 2011 (with the disastrous results you can imagine :P) They are mostly able to identify it as a recorder, even when they aren't aware of altos or tenors--or anything bigger than a descant, for that matter.
Since we're talking about single-reed instruments, I must add I also have a Xaphoon Pocket Sax, and I have to admit that it seems to be far more popular than any of the recorders I've got! It also tends to puzzle people, since they really don't know what it is. Telling them that it's a modern version of the chalumeau doesn't really help.
