I spent two or three hours tinkering with this model of Veronica and think it's getting pretty close. Straightened out her stance, put her hand on her hip and cleaned up her head. The hair and details help too. A couple more hours and I might have something.

Yeah, very bendable. It's aluminum rod, 3/32" in diameter. If I do any more of these (thinking of doing one of Francis), I might use a stiffer grade of rod. We had two grades and this is the softer one. Anyway, the frame bends, but it stiff enough to support the clay as long as the center of gravity doesn't get too far off the the sides. Which it did with Veronica here, which is why I added a support for her tail. Of course, this clay is also very stiff, so bending the figure cracks it a lot. You just have to fill the cracks and work from there.
The bases are 5"x5" pieces of 3/8" aluminum that I drilled holes in to secure the wire frames.
