Actually that was a deliberate choice on the part of the director. (Curse you M. Knight) And yes, the live action movie was awful. Half the time they spent practicing "Water Bending" I stared at the screen going "Did they forget to add in the water in post production or something?"
It looks like wood to me too. It's probably because it looks like brown logs instead of blocks of stone. You'd probably have been better served by going with a grey of stone rather than a brown for dirt. Or maybe blockier shapes, rather than what honestly looks a lot like split lumber.
I love this picture, the colors, the dynamics, the action. You really seemed to capture the styles behind each of the bending arts.
My only gripe with it though is the air bender being so blue. Air is supposed to represent fall and have orange and yellow colors but I suppose the choice for blue is because of the character and person behind it. Other than that it's great and even despite that it's awesome. It's great work and I love the looks on their faces their poses and the way you did the elements, though the earth was a little lacking compare to the huge wave and arcs of fire and air.

Well, given the existence of "Chi Blockers" in the new series (people who know pressure points on the human body to hit to take away a person's ability to bend) it would seem that all benders manipulate the elements by using their chi so technically they've all been chi benders from the get go.
