They aren't in Uganda anymore, but it has been confirmed they are still active in other countries. Plus the charities I'm promoting in the description as far as i know they don't work with any government. Even if he is dead, that doesn't mean the LRA will just stop, they might have a runner up even.
Seem like some good charities. But I wouldn't give any money to the Invisible Children folks. They're really shady and it has already been found out that they're actually not giving much of the money they raise to actually help, but keeping it for themselves. I think it was something like only 31% of the money they raised they actually gave to help people in Africa. They lined their own pockets with the rest of it. One of the things that reallllllly rubs me the wrong way is thieves and/or religious fundamentalists hiding behind a disguise of charity and using the money given in good faith, to get rich, or worse, fund their religious agenda.
i don't think IC pocket's the other 69%, since cost of film isn't cheap, plus there is camera and crew to pay for. My problem with that is crew. Why should they be paid the full salary? Most charities pay less than minimum wage to their employees since it's really volunteer work (like amref, they pocket only %6 of all donations). I think if IC wants to become a legit charity they need to lower the crews wages (working in film you can get a ton of money in your annual wage), filter out what they need and don't need in their films. If you look at the video (besides from the point it's modern day propaganda), there are some complex filmography in there. Some don't really show much than a picture with 3D effects. Eliminate that, that will lower cost. But I'm glad there are some action being taken, but I still think it needs to be thought out a little bit more, regarding what you've said about the religious fundies, but not only that but also the different ways to approach this situation.
