So its drywall hanging wire, with the ends curled over themselves so they don't poke through the fabric and a dot of hot glue over the end JUST IN CASE it decides to friction-erbate all over the fabric. A preliminary fleece sleeve is sewn + tucked over it, then then are slid into place in the 2 part membrane and then fleece is sewn on top of the membrane, along the sides of the 'bone'. :3 So totally posable since its wire.
This looks fantastic! I'm currently working on a dragon with this style of wing, but I'm completely stumped on how to keep the finger extensions taut against the wearer's fingers. I've bought some tent poles for the extensions, but I'm wondering if they might be too heavy. I have also considered attaching the poles to a pair of lycra gloves which would be worn underneath the actual costume gloves, but there's still the issue of getting the extensions nice and secure and not 'drooping'. Would you be willing to share a tip or two on how you achieved it with your wings?
Sounds good! Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a product going by the name 'drywall hanging wire' yet, but I'm sure I can find a suitable equivalent! One last question, then I'll leave you be! How do the ends of the wire sit against your fingers so it sticks out straight, rather than drooping?
