We got a hold of them today, they're been attending funerals all week, and today is the only day they're free so we're going over after I go with alan to a lecture he really wants to go to. ;O;

It's about religion D: which is a sand-papery topic for me since I'm Atheist, but strongly and knowledgeably so (as in I beyond respect EVERYONE'S beliefs, but I don't believe in them myself), I was born and raised catholic (went to private catholic school) until I was 16, so I know a LOT more then a normal athiest would, but I do belive this lecture is based more off of "everyone has religions and why we should respect them" or something. The title of the lecture is "One Nation under Who's god ?"

I'm right there with you, except the private school thing. I was raised Christian, very strictly so, but I was 8 when something inside me snapped and it just didn't click anymore. I read and studied so many religions and nothing fit, they all had too many inconsistencies and what-not. So I'm a very happy atheist who doesn't have a problem with people who practice religion, but if you try to shove it down my throat, I'll sure stand my ground. But that's just the sort of area I live in, people know you're feelings and view-points on something, but have to try to shove theirs at you and make you change your mind. How very christian of them. Blah. Bad topic.

Sounds like it might be something to try to open peoples minds a little to the possibility that the 'one god' referred to in many religions is the same by a different name, or that there are more than one, and they can still peacefully co-exist as long as there's respect. That's what the world needs more of. Respect and tolerance.
