Did they mean her to be modeled after a Kirin? I keep thinking Kirin when I see her.

I am unsure, I think insect when I see her, due to her looks and the sound they make! (especially beetle).

I don't watch the show, so all I've seen are the pictures (I have no idea about her personality etc) but I keep thinking Kirin by the scaled looking back and the funky branch-like horn, as well as Kelpie because of the webby/ripped mane/tail.

Neat to see something like that incorporated into MLP. Much more interesting than the standard Earth/Alicorn/Unicorn/Pegasus/etc. I mean, the wildest they got before this was Flutter ponies and butterfly wings, LOL.

Oh you need to watch this episode, the voice acting and animation is amazing, especially of those baddies. =P

Since I don't watch the show, isn't there something else I need to see? I was under the impression from my friends chatting about this that it was a 2 part episode or a season finale or something.

I've seen the pilot for the show, and one random (and AWFUL) episode... so if there's something referenced from another episode I ain't going to understand it, lol.

I think it can be appreciated without previous knowledge of the show. Heh, what "aweful" episode was it? XD

Something about the three little ponies trying to get their cutie marks and one of them cheats and gets "cutie pox" ... it was really, really, really stupid. I wasn't entertained or endeared at all. I'm sure other episodes must have more entertaining qualities or a better sense of humor... but this one was made for Nick Jr, it seems. I've been more enthralled catching an Episode of Blues Clues than I was then. It took a LOT for me to sit through the entire episode.

I mean, it IS a kids show. But if all episodes were as awful/childish as that one I have no idea why people love it so much.

OH THAT ONE, haha yes, I tend to agree. XD If you want to see good ones, I'd recommend "Lesson Zero", "Party of One", or "Luna Eclipsed". The last one does require some back-knowledge to fully appreciate, but if you saw the pilot episodes you should be good. =P

I'm gonna level for ya and say that pretty much half of season 2's episodes are strait up unwatchable, a handful are okay, and a few are pretty good still. After the show's creator, Lauren Faust, left the show after season 1 and passed the directorial reigns over to a select few, it stopped being what made it so good to begin, and took on a complete paradigm shift; now each episode tends it feel more like some brony's fanfiction to me. It's just like any other cartoon as it stands.

Start with season 1, stop at season 2 episodes 1 and 2 (which were incidentally supposed to be part of season 1 to begin with).
