Sewing on tapes was a really easy because I've been doing insanely complicated stitches project that we had to do in class, so I figured I'd make this a comfort book for myself. Hello, Erzulie. :heart:

I adore the binding on this! I haven't ever attempted to sew on tapes before but I'm now thinking about it for that wedding guest book since this looks so lovely!

Sewing on tapes is a lot of fun and really easy. You just need to find the linen tapes, or a sturdy ribbon. It's an easier stitch than the coptic, too heehee

Make sure it's firmer ribbon, then. If it's not, it won't be sturdy enough to keep teh book together.

I'd likely just come up with some twisted version of coptic binding with ribbon just to assure that it wouldn't fall apart. I rather enjoy coming up with my own sorts of bindings randomly LOL. I made one for a Little Mermaid book that I never finished

Coptic bindings definitely won't come apart unless you cut the string or rip the paper. The coptic binding is one of my all time favorite stitches. It's simple and very classy looking, and I LOVE the open spine. <3 SO MUCH!!!

I love it just because it lays completely flat so it is PERFECT if you want to make something like a watercolor sketchbook or just a regular sketchbook. You don't end up having to deal with that slight ridge that most bindings will give you at the center of the book.
