We're a family and you're one of us now
Though ya look like you
we think you'll like us too
'cause we're a family and you're one of us now
...... Yes. Yes, that's from "The Land Before Time 2"; while I LOVE the original movie (A Bluth classic) I'm not a fan of the two dozen preschool sing along sequels...but I DID see the second one years ago, and for whatever messed up reason this song popped in my head and this sketch is the result. XD
Not you, Scar; I mean, you're one of us. I mean, you're our pal!
... oh yeah, and one day we'll eat you. :D

Aw, thanks lol! The original of some of these (like this one) are so small, I sometimes do multiple pictures on one page (cause I use up sketchbook paper way too fast) XD Then I have my full page projects (like "No Regrets") I'm so addicted to TLK right now XD Thanks again for the comment!
Thanks! Lol yeah, I have seen a handful of the sequels and some of the songs are catchy I admit, but as I grew I noticed (rather painfully) how preschool-ish it felt XD It's not that they sing, some of my favorite animated movies are musicals, it's that most of the songs are so obviously geared towards very young kids. XD The original movie, however, remains timeless...a treasure people of all ages can enjoy. It lacks music save for the theme "If We Hold on Together", which is one of the best songs ever ) and the story is pretty dark. I read that Bluth originally wanted it to be darker (there were some cut scenes with the Sharptooth that never made it to the final production) Spielberg felt those scenes were "too scary" for kids...pfft. I love animated films that dare to take a darker path, even without the cut scenes the movie is still much darker than anything they make these days. Sorry about my rambles XD
PS: Pretty sure you can watch the original online somewhere...I still have it on vhs tape, my original vhs tape...but I don't have a working vcr anymore. gotta watch the thrift stores! XD

Yeah, the original is the only one that gets me emotional. I actually cry from it. "If We Hold on Together" even makes me emotional, lol. It's beautiful.
Speaking of darker animated films, have you seen Hans Christian Andersen's version of The Little Mermaid? Not at all like the happy ending of the Disney version!
Don't apologize for "rambling"! I enjoy the conversation! ^.^

Never have, I'll hafta check it out o_o I think the darkest animated movie I know of is "Watership Down"...beautiful animation and story, and pretty graphic (NOT for young kids) The same company that made Watership also did an animated movie called "Plague Dogs"...I've never seen this one personally, since people have warned me that it's even darker than WD, and very violent and sad in some scenes and since it involves things that are reality...animal testing etc. BUT. I'd like to see it someday...as it also looks to have a VERY strong message against animal testing, and I LOVE that.
You want to see a dark movie see "The Plague Dogs". It is an animated film but not at all child-friendly. It is a film based on the book "The Plague Dogs" by the same author of Watership Down. It is about two dogs who escape a testing facility and are chased by the government and media. It is violent, graphic, and very sad. Another movie with a message against animal testing as well as speciesism in general.
