Ezervis, the Scientist (Wayfarer project?)
This was a concept I came up with right before bed one night. I made a quick doodle of him and then went to sleep, so recently I figured I'd revamp it. He's a sort of crab/beetle/spider like fellow. His species have a mouth on their abdomen that leads to a sort of storage area that can fit something (or some things) as big as a man (roughly) for short term storage. It's great for storing snacks or a lunch box or notebooks or something of that sort, but doesn't link to any sort of stomach. outside of being somewhat moist, it's harmless.
They also have mandibles that normally link together and are flexible enough to be used for speech. It opens to allow them to eat somewhat large things - big mealgrubs for instance, or on the rare occasion that you need to swallow a sandwich or fruit whole.
They have a fluffy underbelly (and I'm thinking of adding some fluff to their joints) that is rather soft to the touch, and helps them regulate their temperature a bit.
He's a scientist - he finds studying vertebrates very interesting. Their physiology is so wildly different than his own that it's always enlightening and fun.
His antennae display emotion outwardly along with his facial expressions.
